What are you using for bowls/plates?

I see all of the BPA-free baby/toddler bowls and plates at BRU but I'm trying to steer clear of any plastics just because I'm trying to cut back on all plastics in my life, not to mention, we don't know what manufacturers have used in place of BPA.

If I have to heat up baby foods, I'm certainly not going to heat it up in plastic anyway, so I figure why dirty two bowls?  My cheap Corelle dishes are virtually unbreakable but I guess I could consider wood bowls too?  What are you guys using instead of plastic?

  • Here are the dishes if you aren't familiar with them.  They are made of glass compressed under high heat.

  • DD doesn't really eat out of a plate, she's still in the eat-off-the-highchair tray stage.

I made my own purees, so to defrost the cubes and serve the puree I used small pyrex "pinch bowls" with lids. Great buy. Target, baking section.

  • I bought a package of silicone muffin cups to use as bowls for DD for snacks and side dishes, etc.  I got the pink and yellow flower ones, but I think they also have plain red and blue.  Wilton makes them.

  • We use glass for the baby (since he's not touching it) and we moved DS to regular plates pretty quickly when it was hot food.  I'll admit, we have 2 plastic bowls which we do let him use for cooler food and stuff like yogurt, etc.  We haven't had a dish break yet. (from him...  DH and I... well...)

  • We have a couple wooden appetizer plates from Crate and Barrel that I use, otherwise, just our corelle cups and saucers (glass). DD uses regular silverware and reused baby food jars as her cup glasses. I try to avoid the plastics whenever possible as well.

  • I bought 3 flat 8" corelle plates, 3 segmented 8" corelle plates , and a couple small corelle rice bowls. they all work great and I like being able to heat and serve his food on th same plate.
