my family room table is just find and nice and round.....HOWEVER, my living room tables are mexican marble and not safe/rectangular..... what do you recommend as coverings for baby safety?
TIA
After 7 years of marriage and 5 unsuccessful IVFs, we have been granted the gift of adopting a baby boy, born 4/21/11.
at target you can buy these padded things that slip onto the corners of tables, that should take care of the corners, at least. if you are worried about the kids bonking their heads on the edges, maybe some soft and fluffy covering for the next few years, like a pretty rug?
The coverings I got (like the ones mentioned above) only worked until DS could walk and then he finds it fun to just peel them off now .My table is just wood but the edges are kind of pointy.
Can you restrict play to just the family room and place gates up for your LR?
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Our living room table is the same and we got a padded bumper type thing (was black soft plastic/vinyl? I have no idea of the fabrication) that went around the whole table (corners and sides) so the whole thing was padded. Wasn't so attractive but worked well. Also is easy to remove and put back if you need or want to take it off.
I think it's One Step Ahead that has a TON of babyproofing items / products.

I found a similar bumper on Amazon. I can't do a link from my iphone but it is the Safety 1st Table Edge Bumper.
I would just get rid of the coffee table for now. I might be in the minority here, but for us, not having to worry about stitches from sharp angles was worth the inconvenience of having to be without a coffee table.
We got the round IKEA kids table (it screams playroom) BUT it's been great for snacks, crafts, puzzles, etc.
Our coffee table lives in the garage these days and has for quite some time. In fact, I kind of forgot we even have one until reading this post. No plans to return it to its rightful living room home anytime soon. I'm with the above poster - I didn't like how dangerous it was once he started walking - so we put it away.
Wheee!
