Hello, I was wondering if anyone has gone through this for their prenatal/postpartum care? I just lost my job, and found out I was pregnant right after. I have no insurance, and feeling a little lost right now. Anyone know anything about this?
I was on Medicaid for my last pregnancy because of a lack of insurance. All you need to do is get a confirmation pregnancy test from a doctor or a clinic and take it up there to the office and fill out the application. You need to do it quick because depending on your area it could take a while to be approved.
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

This. When I was pregnant at 18, I had insurance through my mom but it wouldn't cover a dependant's maternity care. I applied for Sobra Medicaid (pregnancy only) and they will back pay related bills up to 3 months old. They covered everything including my son's week long NICU stay 100%. Because it was Medicaid, there were some extra requirements regarding appointments about what I plan to do and stuff not relating to doctors. I also had a required home visit when my son was 6 weeks.
I was on Medicaid for my pregnancy. Fill out an application ASAP, because it takes awhile to be approved. Until you're approved, you'll probably need to pay OOP. Keep your receipts to send to Medicaid when your approved so you can be reimbursed.
I would go to your local job and family services website it will give you all the info you need. Then you make an appointment at the local job and family services office to fill out the application. You will most likely qualify for other help to like WIC which will provide you with healthy food (now) and formula when the baby comes.
If you just lost your job, you should be eligible for COBRA. Basically, you can continue the insurance you had at work but just pay the full cost of it (your employer was likely paying 50% of it or more). You'll *probably* get better benefits with COBRA than you will with Medicaid, but it's obviously going to be more expensive. Call your old HR office and they should be able to help - I think you have 90 days after you lose your job to get on COBRA.
You might not get better benefits with Cobra. It is individual to each state, but Medicaid in MI Is fantastic. I have medicaid because DH lost his insurance from his employer. I never had a single issue getting my treatment and the best doctors in my town take it.
The insurance DH had didn't cover half the things that medicaid did and we were going to have to pay OOP for a medically necessary u/s witha specialist last time I was pregnant. We had medicaid to supplement and it covered everything I needed.
ALSO, you can ALWAYS apply for supplemental medicaid. If you have primary insurance but will have a hard time paying the rest of the bills, you can apply and they may help cover what your private insurance doesn't.

I know right? Im thankful I don't qualify anymore but it kind of stinks the max I'll have to pay is 8k with this one.
