Every year, right after Christmas, I do a weight loss plan called Booty Boot Camp that my friends started several years back. It's basically just a way to drop the 10 pounds or so that I typically gain over the year. This year, I will definitely have more than 10 pounds to lose! BBC isn't really a diet or exercise plan in the conventional sense (you choose what you want to eat, how much you want to exercise, what exercises you'll do, etc), it's just a really great team program that helps to motivate me to move more.
Anyway, we usually have some people participating across the country so I thought I'd throw it out there for my fellow November mommies who are looking for support for their weight loss efforts. If you're interested in joining us this year, let me know and I'll post more details later. It works for me every year and I'm counting on the extra motivation to help me drop all the baby weight quick.
Anyone else have weight loss plans of their own?
Re: Lose the baby weight plans
Most people only really need 12 weeks to train for a half...at least that's how long most training plans are. I'm still running 3-4 miles at a time which is why I think I'll be able to handle one in the spring.
Good for you! I wish I was still running but I gave it up for a number of reasons while being pregnant. I'll be starting from scratch, so I think I may need more time. Who knows though, maybe I'll surprise myself.
This. It sucks, doesn't it??? It's so strange to me...I used to get all antsy if I didn't work out for more than a few days, and I just wanted to get out there. But now, my body just has no inclination for it. I try to at least go for walks but it feels like such a chore! I want to enjoy it again!!
Mine is a little slower paced...I don't think I will be up for running a marathon, a half a marathon or running around the block for that matter..heh.
I still do some sort of exercise routine...but it's slowed down substantially. Before I got pregnant I was doing zumba, yoga, and some strength training. I also started seeing a nutritionist to lose weight before pregnancy. (I did decent with that). My goal was to get pregnant (looks like I did a decent job!) Weight gain and loss has been a big struggle for me. I lost 100 lbs a few years ago and I have kept a good portion of it off, even with pregnancy. I will definitely have some work to do after pregnancy. I'm not so concerned with the number on the scale anymore; I'm more concerned about my overall health, being around for the baby, and my husband.
To get to where I want to be (down 35-50 lbs), I am giving myself a year. I'm starting with small, realistic goals. Though, any support and ideas are definitely welcomed on this end.
I have plans. I was not serious a bout losing the weight after my first figuring it would just return to normal eventually since I had NEVER been fat in my life. DIdn't quite work that way and I went into this pregnancy about 50 pounds overweight. Oh boy am I feeling it! I already have an appointment set with a doctor friend of mine who will do extensive testing for nutritional deficiencies/imbalances that may have come up due to the pregnancy and will advise me on optimal supplimentation and diet.
I have purchesed a package of personal trainer sessions at my gym. My trainer is all set to start with me the day my doctor says I'm good to go. I have tentatively set the start date in January but, left it flexible.
I would like more info on the booty boot camp. Can you send it to my email:

My tentative plan right now is to do a 1/2 marathon next summer (June or July-ish) and then a full marathon close to baby's first bday.
This is similar to what I did last time except this time, I'm allowing even more time to recover before attempting a 1/2. A July 1/2 marathon will put me at 8 months post-partum. Last time I did a 1/2 at nearly 5 months post-partum and I ended up with a lot of pelvic pain while training as well as a drop in my milk supply early on. I think I'll start with strength training and getting my core back first, then begin a training regimen for running. I won't "diet" as my milk supply last time tanked if I tried to, but I will be more careful about what I eat to try to slowly lose the weight.
I just replied and then went back through and saw your question. Everyone's body is different. 12 weeks is pretty adequate training but also remember that during at least those first 6 weeks, you'll be fairly laid up. I ran a 1/2 marathon when my son was just about 5 months last time and even though I'm an avid runner, it was too soon for my body. I ended up with a lot of pelvic pain and a drop in milk. That was just my experience though, it doesn't mean that is how it will be for everyone. This time around I plan to wait a couple more months before attempting a 1/2 just to rebuild my core first.
I was thinking of trying a half marathon early next year as well. There's a good one in April, but I'll have to see how I'm feeling in January/Feb and whether or not that seems like a realistic goal. I'm happy to see that I won't be the only one pushing myself, though!
Shannon - I'll add you to my email list for when I send out the info in Dec.
I'm interested in hearing more about the boot camp. Feel free to PM me!
I've had success with weight watchers in the past, so I may give that a try again. We have an elliptical machine that hardly ever gets used, but it's always there if I need it! Once I go back to work, I'll have to see what my new schedule is like and whether or not I have time to join the onsite gym there. I hope I'm one of the lucky ones who loses weight while breastfeeding...we'll see!!
Last time I did a month diet/exercise plan to drop the extra weight that didn't come off on it's own. I did the 30 Day Shred every single morning before DS woke up and my diet was basically lowish carbs, high lean protien, lots of veggies and 2 drink max per week. I continued on and lost another 15 pounds on top of my regular pp weight. I plan to do the same routine this time. I know I don't have time to make it to the gym even if I think I will and I can get just as good of a workout at home with interval training in 30 min or less.
I am headed to Hawaii in April so that gives me 5 months to get in bikini shape again!
Weight watchers is great too, but I found that the BFing plan gives you WAY too many points.
Your still running?!? You go girl! I cant even walk without feeling like I am going to topple over lol

Lots of walking (easy for where we live, and why buying a nice stroller is the most important baby item to me)
I have done WW to lose a few while dh was deployed in the past, so I might do that again, I know they have modifications for BF Moms.
DS born via unplanned C-section at 40w6d
This for me too! I used to kick box almost every day and was obsessed with it, but ever since month 4 or so I haven't had the energy, plus kicking my legs was getting hard as the belly got bigger. I will be getting a trainer, one of my kickboxing instructors, to get back into shape. I have a bag and everything in my basement so my plan is to do one lunch session a week and then have my trainer give me a workout I can do on my own at home in the morning when DH is spending daddy time with LO.
I'm in a wedding next June so that should give me 6-7 months to lose all or most of the weight. I'll start doing Weight Watchers by 6 weeks post partum (if you're breastfeeding, you're allowed extra points). I'll either workout at the gym or use our treadmill at home - I need to work out or I become a 1st class raving biotch.
I can't imagine a bootcamp fitness weight loss program the month after having a baby. Seriously - thinking back to when I had DD, there is no way I would have been ready for that. I wasn't getting enough sleep and to add that kind of intense workout routine that soon just doesn';t sound realistic to me.
My plan is to eat responsibly, exercise as I can, and am confident I will drop the weight. I did last time, and I am no spring chicken! But I won't worry about it until my body is ready to face it. I was back in my work clothes 3 months after having DD, but if I can't do that this time, I won't stress about it. I'll get there....
DMoney will be a kickass big sister

lol this. assuming it doesn't do the trick, i'll cut out restaurant food as much as possible and try to eat more healthy than i did pre and during pregnancy. we're already cutting back on going out to eat since i'll be a SAHM. i'll also go on a lot of walks, and possibly join a gym if my mom will watch the LO for an hour or so a few days a week.
