Hey Ladies,
I'm sitting here at work pouting and probably looking younger than the baby I'm carrying :-( My maternity pics are coming up this Saturday and for some reason they are VERY important to me. I really wasn't expecting to get pregnant, and I figure this will be my first and only child so I want to commerate the moment in some way, since I'm big on photos, it's a no brainer to do the photo shoot.
Last Saturday I went to the shop of a woman who does natural (un-permed, un-pressed) hair (there aren't many around my area) to get a hair trail. The lady was very nice, but I got the impression that she didn't want to do my hair as she kept mentioning how thick my hair was and had I tried going to the African shops...sounded like she was trying to push me in that direction.
I ended up loving my hair and made my follow-up appointment for this Thursday. Yesterday she text me with a bunch of questions inquiring if my hair was still up and did I still want to come. Come to find out she wanted "to go out" Thursday if I didn't want to get my hair done...why wouldn't I?!?!?! Never being the type of person to beg or try to put myself off on someone, I told her to go ahead with her plans, I woud make other arrangements...tsk...tsk. I am not about to chance someone standing me up, & to go out at that!
So that totally defeated the purpose of having a hair trail, I could have kept that money in my pocket! Now I have to run around and try to find someone else who can do my hair---which is few and far between, and on top of that my husband told me that rain is in the forecast for Saturday morning---the time I take my (outdoor)pics, great :-/
Re: Trying to be Mature
btw what is a hair trail?
Sorry, I meant hair trial...I spelled it wrong twice...wow
If you weren't being sarcastic, a hair trial is when you go to the shop and get your hair done to see if you would like it for a certain occassion...that's why I say it's a waste
Probably not...to be honest I really just don't want to deal with her anymore. It sucks too, I loved my hair and she seemed to be a nice woman.
Thanks! I hope so too!
I would be pissed, too.
The whole point of the trial is to try a certain style with a certain designer.
Did you get photos of the style, at least another designer can do it?
sorry no was not being sarcastic just slow on the draw. was wondering if a hair trail was some new style lol. anyway lady sounds like a b* to me and I would ask for a refund too. good luck
Thanks ladies, I think it was rude too, if not rude then definitely unprofessional. I found someone who said that she could do the style that I wanted, however, her only free slot is during work hours, and I can't afford to take more time off of work as I have another doctor's appointment set for tomorrow (appointments twice a month really suck when you don't have any vacation time, but it's best for baby I suppose).
As of right now it looks like I am going to go to a family friend and get my hair braided...not the look I was going for but I guess it will have to do.
As for the other woman I simply won't be using her services again, & she's already lost one refrence (a co-worker) who was interested in going to her after seeing my hair, so 1 point for me :-)
LOL, I would wonder the same thing if I saw it not once but twice! Sorry, no new styles...just me not being able to spell today :-)
MommaErica,
I love your attitude you mililitant you! :-) I usually would be right there with you, but I am just so emotionally drained, I don't have much fight
I know it sounds dumb for me to be so upset over something as simple as a hair trial when people have real problems, but I am just so disappointed!
Unfortunately, in the black community not everyone gets the concept of going natural (espically the hair dressers who could charge more for a perm). I LOVE my natural hair! It's so much healthier without the chemicals & I love the natural styles! I can actually style my hair myself (as I do everyday), but I was looking for something new for the pictures.
You're right about the beautician, she knew that it was a trial. She probably changed her mind the moment she put the comb in my hair, hence the "your hair is so thick" comments. I'll give it to her, my hair is thick, but I like having a full head of hair. I even tipped her a pretty nice penny after she made it so obvious what a "hard job" doing my hair was. I guess it didn't matter.
Hopefully everything works out, I'll post a pic from my session on this board later if anyone is interested in seeing how they turn out. Thanks again ladies, glad to know I'm not alone in my thinking.
