Poll...Did you get a negative result before your BFP?

I always spot for a little over a week before AF. My spotting was due a week and a half ago, and AF was due yesterday. I've had absolutely no spotting at all (so unlike me) and no AF yet (also pretty unlike me). I took two HPT (one Friday night and one Saturday morning) and both were negative. The HPT box said it could be used 6 days before missing AF, so I assumed I was out this cycle. I might try testing again if AF doesn't come in a couple days...But in the meatime, just wondering how many of you got a negative before your BFP (in the same cycle, of course)?

I did. My period has always been really irregular, but I tested on what I thought was the day after I should have gotten my period (from charting). I got a negative. Ten days later, I got my BFP.

I did. My cyles are very regular and have been for a long time. With my first I took a test the day I was supposed to start and 3 the next day and all were negative. Then I took one a week later and it was positive. Now with my second I got a negative blood test and then a positive HPT 4 days later and I am 5 weeks pregnant.

Yes.

I tested at 8DPO and it was negative. However, I hadn't been having my usual PMS symptoms (break out, retaining water, spotting) so when I got to 13DPO I took another test and it was a faint positive. By 15DPO (the day after my period was due) it was finally a unmistakable positive.

I did with both pregnancies. With my last one, I tested on a Tuesday when I expected my period the previous Friday which was BFN. Tried again on Friday which was exactly a week late and got my faint positive. With this one, I didn't get a BFP until CD 47. I even went to the doc complaining I felt pregnant but was getting BFN's. My doc even thought it was unlikely I was pregnant if I wasn't getting a positive by then. I guess my cycles are just really messed up. GL!

Yes. I was so frustrated. I started to make a clicky poll to see how many others had a false negative first, but TB was soooo slow that day. So that evening (3days late) I tested again and got my first positive. I was late before BFP with DS too. And I used internet cheapies, pink dye, and digitals.

No, but I didn't test untl 10DPO. It was very faint so I waited until the next day to take another one and counted that as a positive.

I did because I was impatient and tested at 8dpo...knowing it would be negative. My mind was driving me nuts and I needed a negative to shut it up. I tested again at 10dpo and got a light BFP.

No, I tested at 10dpo and got a faint positive. I've been testing every couple of days since (that was Friday) because I have so many tests left and I want to get a really dark line when we show our parents.

I got a negative @ 9DPO and a very clear positive @11. I think if I had tested @10 it would have been there.

I have no idea when AF should have started... It was my first cycle temping, second off BCP so I have no clue how long my LP is. I imagine, based on the average LP, it was 2-4 days before my missed period.

I tested 11 DPO and it was negative. Then I tested the next day on 12 DPO and it was positive. I used the First Response Early Detection test at lunch on 12 DPO and it was positive and then when I got home I took the Clear Blue Digital and it said Pregnant!

I tested on a whim and got a faint line on an IC. I tested on CD 25 - my cycles are typically 30 days long but I have had months where it's been shorter/longer.

Nope...after two years of trying for our ds I had stopped testing before AF was due. No need to disappoint. Both pregnancies I tested the day that AF was due and got a positive right away.

Yes! I bough the "6 days before you missed period" tests and got a negative 6 days before, tested again and got another negative 5 days before. I just figured this wasn't our month and went out drinking with my girlfriends the next night (after being super careful all month lol.) I had a really weird hangover that next morning and decided to take another test at 4 days before just in case--it was my BFP!

I didn't get a negative result but I got "see pamphlet" error code twice. I was so frustrated because I knew I was following the direction correctly... Third time was the charm. Smile

I tested negative up until 17DPO. I took another test 20 DPO and it was positive. Good luck!

Tested negative twice this time. before getting a very light line on the third ( and fourth and fifth) test

I wasn't really keeping track so I wasn't sure when to test, but I wasn't getting my period so I just kept testing. BFP eventually. Thank God for dollar store tests

I got a negative. I switched to a different brand and got a positive! Then I tested a few more times and got all positives.

I was testing very early, 8dpo, although it was technically only 3-4 days before my expected period since I have a shorter luteal phase. I got a negative at 8dpo and on 9dpo got my first veeerrrry faint positive. Beta testing revealed my HGC was only a 6. Normal for that early, but still very low. Consecutive bloodwork and HPTs showed a rise in my beta levels as well as darkening lines on the HPTs. I was testing with the FRER to get the first positive. My cheapie Wondfos did not turn positive until 12dpo at which time the Clear Blue Easy digital test also came back positive (techincally one day past my expected period).

I did. My cycles are very regular and I took a test 5 days before my missed period and 3 days before my missed period. Both negative. I just knew I was pregnant, though (this exhaustion!) so I took another one on the day I should have gotten my period. Very dark line appeared right away.

At DH's insistence, I took a First Response Early Response test 3 days before AF was due and it came back negative. On the day AF was supposed to come, I took a Clear Blue Easy digital test, again at DH's insistence. I totally expected that to come back negative, so when it said Pregnant I almost passed out. I went out and bought another box of FR tests and a box of CVS drugstore brand. They were all positive. I also just had a blood test to confirm. We're thorough lol.

I fell ill, 8 days before my AF and my doctor sent me for tests one of which was a PT, this came out negative.I was so depressed I forgot all about my AF, which didnt eventually come. DH was out of town so I was preoccupied with work and no opportunity for TTC. so a week later DH comes in and at his insistance I took a HPT and it was positive. I have scheduled a visit to the OB/GYN, have done a scan I'm 8 weeks now!!!!!!! Big Smile

I did, but I had a really long cycle, and was used to a 35 day cycle, so when I got past that I took tests every week or so. I bought a BBT after a while because I wanted to know what was going on during the next cycle, and I figured by day 40-something when I started charting that I had already ovulated and was just getting into the habit for my next cycle. Then I had some o signs like fertile CM and took an OPK and it was positive on day 54. I o'd then, and got the BFP on 10dpo and CD64. So I did take tests that were negative before ovulation (without realizing it), but the first test I took after I knew I ovulated was positive.

Tested again today at 13DPO and had a much darker but still faint positive on the same brand of test.

I have always had irregular periods. I tested with two blue dye tests 5 days before my period and both were negative. Knowing that my body felt different, I went all out and purchased a box of 3 FRER tests the next day and all three were positive. My husband refused to believe it so I went the next day and purchased 2 digitals and both positive. Good luck!

I am like you and start spotting before my period. I am usually like clickwork so when it wasnt happening, I took a test 2 days later on Saturday and got a negative result. Still nothing by Tuesday so took again first thing once I woke up (which they say is the best time) and had a positive test!
