Hello loves.
We had our first RE appt and it went relatively well. We saw Dr. Michael Jacobs at the Fertility and IVF Center of Miami, because they work with our urologist, and I've heard several people recommend him. I liked Dr. Jacobs very much - he's patient, thorough, calming and very intelligent.
Basically, our chances at this point of having a biological child are 50/50. The doctor is putting Anth on Clomid to try and up his testosterone, we're running a whole battery of tests (blood work, genetic testing, I need an HSG, hormone) to prepare for IVF (which is our best case scenario right now) and then Anth is getting a biopsy at the end of September. If they can retrieve sperm (and this is where the doctor believes our chances are 50/50), we'll try and cycle next month. I had an internal ultrasound and everything looks fine. It's in God's hands now.
Re: Another short update...

Glad you found a doctor you like and you have a plan. We saw Dr. Jacobs, for a 2nd opinion and I did like him too (he just didn't tell us anything we didn't know so we kept with Thompson). I have 2 family members with gorgeous kids thanks to him.
If you have any questions, need anything (even if just an ear to listen), let me know! It is a difficult path, but one you both will get through. XOXO

So happy to hear you're making progress!
For your HSG, have your RE rx you Motrin 800 or some kind of rx strength paid med (unless you already have cause of your back) and then take it abotu 1 hr before the test. Also, make sure you take the rest of the day off work so you can go straight home after. You'll also want to have someone drive you there and home since sitting isn't the funnest thing you can do after that.
I have super high hopes for you!!
love you, friend!

Eli, I've been thinking about you guys, I'm glad you are keeping us updated!
Sending you prayers and good thoughts
xoxo
I too had the HSG... and OB told me it was painful, so he had me take 2 advils an hr before procedure, so I did. Afterwards, it felt like uncomfortable cramps. During the procedure, it was a bit painful, but nothing horrible IMO. Then again, everyone's pain tolerance is different.
Good way to start building that pain tolerance for child birth, and recovery. : )
GL hun.
