We're thinking about an all-inclusive in January to Cuba (fly from Toronto, Canada). DS will be 23.5 months (so he'll still fly and stay for free) and the new baby will be roughly 3.5-4 months old.
Anyone do it? Are we crazy for considering it?

seeing that you want to go to an all inclusive resort, I say go for it. You wont have to pack and unpack a number of times and food and drinks are provided for you when ever you wish!
Of course, I'm not a 2u2 (outside baby) mom yet so take what I say with a grain of salt.

that's sort of what I figured too, re: all inclusive. i realize it won't exactly be a 'vacation' with the 2 kids, but no dishes, no cooking, no cleaning (other than cleaning up after ourselves), sounds pretty nice.

All inclusive sounds awesome! No cooking, cleaning, everyone can eat something different for meals... I'd say the hardest part will be the plane ride, hopefully your LO's can sleep for some of it. If you don't have a portable DVD player, I would invest in one. I don't like TV that much, but I'd rather NOT be the mom of the child who screamed the entire flight! GL! and let us know how it is if you go!
My kiddos are about that age right now. If it was me, I might do it if we were going with other family, but wouldn't do it if it was just the four of us.
We like going on vacation with family b/c then there are other people to play with Drew, hold Lizzy, and even full-out babysit so we can grab dinner or some drinks on our own. That makes it feel like a vacation to me - getting away from our regular life.
When it's just us, I find we've got all the work we'd have at home plus more because everyone is in a different place and we aren't following our normal routine. When we can spread that across grandparents and aunts and uncles, it's not bad at all. With just us, it wears me down. I wouldn't want to pay that kind of money for a time that I wouldn't find restful or relaxing. I'll just wait until they get older and a little more self-reliant
That being said, if you're personality is more adventurous than mine or you really don't mind the extra "stuff" that goes along with babies and vacation - then why the heck not? I think a lot of it has to do with your attitude and mind-set about traveling with kids. I know myself well enough to know that I won't enjoy it if DH and I are still in charge of the kids 24/7. I wish I could just enjoy it and for those that can - more power to ya!
All the traveling we do is the latest flight out. We get to the airport nice and early let the oldest run around and get rid of any energy. Change them into Pj's, then do a litttle Tylenol 30min before the flight and then when we get on each gets a bottle and they are out cold for the night. Works for us but we also buy the oldest a seat so we have 3 seats total and he can lay across it and also the youngest I put a blanket on the floor between my legs and lay him down the vibrations from the plane keeps him sound asleep all night.
Does the resort have any babysitting services? I've been to an all inclusive without kids and I just can't see it being as fun with kids, especially 2 kids to watch. The whole point of going all inclusive is so you can layout and relax and have drinks all day long. I can't picture drinking all day long while watching my kids. Just my opinion. DH wants to do another all inclusive vacation and leave the kids at Grandma's.

I agree with PAmiler - personally, I wouldn't do it. Even going away with our family is still more work than being at home. DD never sleeps as well as when we're at home and that makes it hard to fully enjoy vacation. We are going away when DD is 2 and this new baby will be 4 months, but we're leaving them home with the grandparents. My parents offered to come with us, but we know it will be much more relaxing if it's just the two of us!
If you do go with the kids, my only advice is get your older DC his/her own plane seat! You do not want to be on a plane for several hours with a 23-month old on your lap - it will be awful!
i went to Disney with my 2 sons. DS1 was 25 months and DS2 was 3 months. It was horrendous only because 1. i was traveling with my aunt and cousin and didn't want to put any responsibility on them so i basically had no help for a full week and 2. it was July in florida. everyone was beyond hot and miserable. it was VERY hard but if you have the help, i say go for it!

P.S. YOWZERS to drugging your kids for flights.
