de-lurking

I really appreciate this board, but do not feel like I have anything *new* to say, so I appreciate just lurking, or reading the answer to a question I already had.  But, I would hate to see the board go away, so I'll try to post sometimes. :)

I was trying to think of an EF thing I did/learned recently.  Here's the only thing that came to mind. (Gee, I hope I didn't learn it here!)

I've been trying to stock our freezer now for the when our little ones come.  I went to bake something Sat and all my pans were in the freezer!  I learned that you can put a layer of foil in a pan. Cook. Freeze. Wait a day or two and pop it out of the pan.  Then you still have your pan to use. When you want to reheat--just put the frozen block back in the pan.

I ended up going to Goodwill and getting several 9x13 and 9x9 pans.  (I got ten pans for less than $10).  I will keep cooking/freezing in these and then when I am finished I can donate them again.  $10 is a decent "rental fee" and cheaper than one meal out.

I guess this is a budget mama tip, too--but there's some overlap. Hope it helps someone else.  I'll try to post more.

Re: de-lurking

  • My goodwill is stupid expensive. It's like $5 for a BELT. I tried going there to get stuff for my halloween costume and got priced out of the joint.
