NCDR: help me choose a lovey

DS has started at daycare two days a week.  The first two days were, understandably, a little rough.  I've been thinking that a lovey would help him adjust, and might make bedtime in our house a smoother affair as well.

Can anyone recommend a lovey for us?  I'd prefer one that I can buy multiples of, in case one gets lost, and machine washable.  We have one of those bear-head blankets, which is cute once I got over it being creepy and which might work except they take forever to line dry :/

Thanks!

  • I tried and tried and tired to get her attached to a lovey and nothing I bought worked.  She finally found a little crocheted blanket she got in the NICU in her closet about a month ago and hasn't put it down since.  So you can try to get him one, but in my experience they have to find something they want themselves.

That's EXACTLY what I was going to say. I've yet to find something for her.

  • We got several angel dear loveys as gifts. You can buy them in packs of three. We keep one in her crib and they do help calm her. She hasn't chosen which one she likes best though.

This. My daughter was never attached to anything and then one day she picked this white blanket that a friend got me for her when she was born. She now goes between that and another blanket (thank God or it'd never be clean!) and she is never w/o one of her "blankies." For about a good week she had both... LOL

  • DS has several of these animals with the small blankets attached like this one.  He hasn't chosen a favorite, and dosen't HAVE to have it, but it does help him when he's having a tough time going to sleep.  I like them because they are small and soft, but like pp's have said, you may just have to wait until LO chooses one on their own.

  • I really love Miyim. They're all organic, dyed with plant-based dyes, and they're pretty inexpensive on Amazon. They have animal head mini blankies like you're talking about in addition to several collections of plush dolls in various sizes. They're also stuffed well so they can work for teething. I did a post here a while back (sorry it's not clicky, I'm on my phone): https://xixmmx.blogspot.com/2011/03/nontoxic-toys-miyim.html

  • All right, ladies, thanks!  I know it's really up to him if/when he picks one, but I can stack the deck in my favor by making ones I like available, right?

And now if you'll excuse me I need to retrieve my arm before he gives me another hickey.

  • I love these. I bought the pink stars for my DD. She's not totally hooked yet but she does clench it and put it up to her face when she is tired. It's way cute.

  • Lovey - Burp Monster - The Lime Monster

This is what we have =)  I actually have 2 so when one is in the wash I have an extra.  As a bonus, they can be used as a drool wipe or burp cloth since they are absorbent LOL  And you can get any color you want.  We love it- LO seems to like it at daycare and does hold it there when he naps.  Here is the linky to the etsy store we bought them from:
