Success after IF

Activity mats

How long did your LOs use them?  We have a hand-me-down and I'm not a huge fan of it.  There is nowhere to dangle toys for N to bat at.  It's basically just a mat with pictures on it and a water thing that hooks on the side.  I want to buy a new one but not if he's not going to be interested in it or use it for more than another month or 2.

Re: Activity mats

  • Anna loved hers until she was an expert roller... So maybe until 6ish+ months? It was great when she could sit up, because it gave her lots to look and grab at (ours had lots of hanging thingies).
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.

  • I think it depends on the baby.  Aaron didn't really like his or play with it much.  He was happy just laying on the floor with a couple toys.  We for sure didn't use it past 6 months old though.

He sees it now in his closet and is more interested in playing with it at almost 3.  So funny!

  • D played with his after he crawled he would try to stand up on the bars that held the toys for a while. He still plays with the mirror (he sticks out his tongue and makes faces at himself) and some of the bird things that came with it.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • We love ours, still use it sometimes (although we just bought some foam letters to make her a bigger play area). I would highly recommend it.

    We have this one:

I have seen them used on Craigslist, so check there, but we got ours on Amazon with Amazon Mom (free 2-day shipping) and it was TONS cheaper than Toys R Us.

Same here. In fact, Will liked to try to pull up on his. Come to think of it, I believe that's when I decided to put it away since the criss-cross overhead stuff wasn't that stable for him to hold onto.

  • Jax is 4 months and we still love ours. Ours has a mirror attached to the top and that is his favorite part. We have another one upstairs that doesn't have a mirror and he does 't care for it as much.

We have this too. I'm pretty much convinced it's baby crack.

I think this is the one we have.  Does yours have hanging toys?  I'm wondering if maybe I just didn't get any from the person who gave it to me?

Thanks ladies!  I think I will get him a new one since it seems like it might last us for at least 3 more months.
