convertible carseat options

We didn't realize that our carseat that we got for LO only goes to 22 lbs.  She is 16 lb and 27 inches long now and we are looking into our next carseat option because I am pretty sure that she will be too long for this one soon.

Looking it is between a britax or a radian xtsl by sunshine kids.  What do you have and how much do you like it?  Thanks!

Re: convertible carseat options

  • Britax gets the highest safety ratings.

  • Get the Radian.  I have both, and have been frustrated by how quickly my kiddos have gotten too tall for the Roundabout and needed a bigger seat since they are all still needing to be in a 5-pt harness.

But Britax has several other models, that I think would fit that requirement, right?

  • Possibly, but those seats are HUGE and heavy (and pricey).  I like that the Radian still gets killer safety ratings and has a nice narrow profile.  Yes, the Britax seats are for sure cushier, and you won't go wrong with one.  I just think the Radian is a better "long-life" seat when compared directly to a Radian.

  • I know this is much later than the other responses but-

I bought a COSCO convertible seat from Walmart.  Saftey ratings are the same as the Britax and they are $39 each.  I bought 3.  One for my car, one for DH, and one for my mom (who babysits every day for us while we work).  I bought 3 carseats for less than one Britax and as far as my research went, it's just as good.  Just some food for thought.  I know it seems "too good to be true" so I hope it isnt
