Warning: sad -- infant death in article:
https://news.yahoo.com/husband-defends-wife-calif-babys-death-001246183.html
My son was born with congenital muscular torticollis, which was diagnosed at 2 months (my pedi sees a baby at birth, 2 weeks and then 2 months). At that time he was also noted to have flat head syndrome--eventually diagnosed as severe brachycephaly. He was in PT for the torticollis for 7 months and wore 2 DOC Band helmets for his brachy. He has full ROM of his neck and no lasting effects. And his head is now round. (He does have speech/developmental delays which are likely unrelated to this.)
When I read this, I got so angry. Both of her son's conditions--which were basically the same as mine, only with plagiocephaly instead of brachy, were correctable. He was not disabled--and even if he were, that is no reason to kill. I cannot accept PPD as a defense since this was premeditated. She drove there to do this. And she seemingly took off his helmet prior to it. Not that a cranial remolding orthosis is a protective helmet, but you never know... it could have helped.
G-d bless this little boy. Gone far too soon.

Yeah, that is not disabled. It's not fun to deal with, but it is so fixable!
To me, she is obviously mentally ill-- I would think post-partum psychosis would be a more appropriate DX.

Wow... 15 years. How tragic.
And you are a better person than I. I try not to judge people but often fail.
