I just got an email from RH Baby & Child with a link to their new fall collection. I love a pretty nursery as much as the next mom, but I can't imagine having this in my house. Maybe I'm too boring.

OMG I think that is amazing. It's very Posh Tot's looking. I got DD's bedding from RH Baby- I love thier stuff. My gay best friend is an interior decorator and he designed DD's nursery- he uses RH a lot- he loves their stuff. We have a pink crystal chandelier in DD's room (it's not that big) but I love it, very sparkly!
Don't get me wrong, I like their stuff too! Have you been to a store since they changed their look from casual to funky? So dark and different - really cool pieces, but I feel like I need to live in a palace to make some of them work!
On this room, I think what put me over the edge were the architectural mirror piece ($3,495) and the lights over the framed antique sheet music. I hope this baby isn't a boy because that stuff is getting peeeeeeeed on!

So far, you have said nothing that jumps out at me as being as over the top as this room! I love a lot of their stuff, but a $3500 architectural piece? If you had one of those, I'd be really impressed!
My first thought was - wonder if ivory would hide the puke stains well?

I am SOOOO over RH. We got their catalogue and it just made me angry - it's like the size of a phone book with glossy pages - what a huge waste!! And much of the furniture is fug. And their CEO... really? REALLY? He just screams "hey, check me out, I'm a douchebag!"

Hey now, we have a chandelier in Boodle's room! (Over the bed, not crib, though). But I agree, RH Baby is getting a bit much lately. What really kills me are the toy storage bins that look like they should be in a Tim Burton movie or 1940's industrial warehouse.

Their adult stuff has gotten really weird lately too though, so I'm not surprised.
Schmoodle -that's just it - it is trying SO hard to be "design-y" that it just misses the point.
And as my mom points out - who has homes big enough for much of their furniture - it's massive in scale!

OH dear heavens, I honestly just purchased something exactly like those first shelves at a Roller Auction for a out of business machine shop. Hee hee. I put them in my garage not the nursery. Oh and they were 4 bucks.
What? That is similar to what our nursery looks like?
OMG, this, this, this! Between the tan, the coif, the white T-shirt and leather jacket combo, and the designer jeans that are distressed just-so (they are actually ripped at the knees in the pic in my last catalog), I feel like I have to boycott RH just on general principle. The principle being anti-douchiness.

The bedding is their sage green- it's not ivory. And the ivory wood would be just as hard to clean as having a white crib.
Those storage bins are nothing different then what Pottery Barn has, Ikea or even Target. How is wood or platic coated wire units with fabric bins not kid friendly?
Sorry, raw iron just doesn't scream "baby" to me, it wasn't a personal attack on you. I am usually a RH fan, we have a lot of stuff from them, but I'm not crazy about their current line. Didn't mean to offend you.
I'm not offended- I just think that wood and iron shelving is a great storage system. If you look at how the product is styled it's show as a headboard with a metal bed on casters- it's the industrial look. It's not meant to look "baby".

I don't know, I kind of like it. I've always been a huge fan of neutral nurseries. And I've definitely seen nurseries which were way more over-the-top (are you listening to me, Mariah Carey???). The price tag is ridiculous, though.
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that everything in RH these days looks like it was made for vampires.

and agreed that everything (non-baby) in the store now is HUGE! I wandered into our local RH the other day and was blown away by the scale of things!
