S/O STTN - non-clicky length poll

So I was reading about STTN in the other thread and I was amazed at how long some of your LO's sleep!  My little guy seems to have a 5 1/2 hr sweet spot which we consider STTN (I heard anything over 5 hrs qualifies) but I'm curious what most of your LO's STTN length is.  I can't believe some of you have 10-12 hr STTN-ers!  That would be awesome (although I'd have to not be lazy about pumping if my guy slept that long)!

So how long does your LO STTN on average?  We've only been steady STTN for a couple of weeks now.  Did you notice the length increase the longer your LO maintained the habit?

  • mine is getting rangy...anywhere from 8-10...but...for the most part its more like 8ish.  BUT he'll sleep from like 8pm to 4/5ish...be up for an hour then go back to sleep until 9am ish...lol!!!  LOVE IT!

He started sleeping through the night at like 6 weeks, for like 6 hours, then it just has progressed.  After big travel days he does 9+ but normally 8ish

ps...you LO's lips are amazingly cute!!!

  • We average about 8, although our routines are all in the air since I went back to work today!

She has slept at least 5.5 since 4 weeks, except for one cranky night!

  • It is nowhere near a "regular"' thing, but the times that mine has STTN (by the 5 hour definition), it's been 5-6 hours. Never more than 6 hours yet, and it's only been a handful of times.

Aww thanks.  I'm proud to say that his face is all mommy.  Lips, nose, chin and cheeks.  :):):)

  • They sleep for about seven hours. It happened really suddenly. One day I woke up and looked at the clock and panicked. I though something terrible had happened because they were only sleeping for about four or five hours at night.

I've heard that STTN is a neurological development milestone, and that it sort of flips a switch one day.

  • Ight around 4 wks Rylee started sleeping from 10-5, eat and back down from 6-10. She just started sleeping 10-12 hrs a week and a half ago. She has had a cold too so it could be bc of that. I guess we will see!

  • Sleeps usually,( not last nigh-arghhh.) From 11pm-5:30ish, so about 6-6.5hrs, then eats, then goes back to sleep for another 2-3hrs.

  • From 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. like clockwork.  She'd probably go to sleep earlier but I don't get my act together soon enough to have her ready.  Plus she really likes cuddling/sleeping/nursing in the evening, so I let her do that while DH and I watch part of a movie or something.

  • Around 6-8 hours

  • We get consistently 5-5.5 hours and have gotten 7 hours or so twice in the last 4 nights. I'm sooooooooooo looking forward to this being a regular thing because I go back to work on 9/6! :) But yes, the length definitely increased the longer he maintained the habit.

  • 5-6, then feed, back down for 3- except the last 3 nights- for those nights, she wants 2am entertainment mommy and if she does it again tonight I may just have to find a straightjacket.

same here! we had a couple 130/2am wake up a couple of nights...we had on 8.5hr night (but only once) for the most part it's usually 5hrs, eat for 10-15min, back down for another 3/4hrs...

  • G goes to bed at 11, wakes to eat at 8a, back to sleep til 11 almost every night now. Sometimes he'll have a rough night though & wake up 3-4x this is rare though.
  • We've had a couple times lately where she sleeps 5 hours straight but overall she still wakes up every 3 hours.

  • 10p-4:30 a.m. seem to be her core hours.  Last night she was asleep before 10 and still sleeping right now (it is just after 5:30 a.m.) and I think i just heard her.

  • We are at 9 hours at this point (although we got almost 10 on Saturday).  We started getting 8 hours at nine weeks (a week after I moved him to his crib) and it's crept up from there.  We've only had one night since 9 weeks that he's woken up in less than 8 hours and he's 3 months (13 weeks) now.  I feel incredibly blessed.

  • She started with 5 hour stretches around 5-6 weeks; now we're consistently up to 7 hours, sometimes a little longer.

  • We were very lucky. At 1 week the pedi said to stop waking and we would get a 6 hour stretch. By a month he was only waking at 3am, but would sleep from 10-3 and 3.30 to 9/10. Around 2 months he started going 8-7. Now that I am back at work, he is waking at 6, eats, and then sleeps the whole way in to daycare.

  • His longest stretch is usually 7 hours, though he occasionally goes an amazing 10 hours. I usually check his breathing when I wake up and he's been asleep that long!

  • He usually goes down for the night around 7:30, 8 at the latest (he seems to lose it if we dont' start his bedtime routine somewhere around 7pm...it's not pretty.)  His first stretch is usually 7:30/8-3-4, so anywhere between 8-9 hours.  He's usually up for about 15 minutes to nurse, then goes back down until 7 or so.

  • It ranges. Sometimes our long stretch is 5. Sometimes 8. Then she eats and goes back down for a few more.
  • We started getting five hours at about 10 weeks. A week later we went to six and the following week it was seven. It has just gradually increased like that.  Last night is the first night he actually STTN.  Went to bed at 7:30 and woke up at 5:30.  Unfortunately I kept waking up so I didn't get to bask in all that sleep!
  • The most she has ever slept is 6.5 hours and that was once.  She has slept 6 hours a handful of times and has been at about 5 to 5.5 hours since 7 or 8 weeks.

It has not really increased at all (she'll be 12 weeks this week) but hopefully it will soon because a decent chunk of sleep for mommy would be nice!

  • Ds goes to bed usually between 10 and 10:30 and usually wakes up between 3-4 to eat for about 10 min then goes back to sleep for 2-3 more hours. I wonder for those of you with earlier bed times are you bf'ing, do you work? If so how much ebm does lo get while you're away and what is your nursing routine when you get home?

  • LO started STTN 6 hours at 6 weeks old. It gradually got up to 8 hours. Last week he was doing 8-9 hours a night. This week he's had a major regression, but we're hoping it's temporary!

  • DD was sleeping 9 to 11 hours from 4 weeks on.  I was extremely spoiled.  Well, now she has regressed and is doing 5 to 8 hours.  Still trying to figure out what happened.  I can't wait until she rolls over because she hates sleeping on her back and I think that's part of it.
