How do you dress your LO for bed??

My LO is 4 months old, we live in NY...The past few days I have dressed her in a onsie with the feet pj's but thats it....for the longest time I was swaddling her waist down but now she is pulling up on it and I worry she will pull it near her face....but then I feel she will be cold without it!!!

How are you all dressing your LO's for bed???

  • We do long cotton sleep feet pajamas.

  • Footie sleepers. I've just started buying the Carter's fleece ones, which I prefer for the winter months. :)

We used the sleep sack for a bit between de-swaddling but when she started rolling to her tummy, I stopped the sleep sack. It happened the exact same way with DS.  He just wore footie sleepers. Also, beware that there will be days where your LO's hands will be so cold and I remember feeling awful about it. But, it's kind of normal for little babies, so don't worry :)

  • We live in Buffalo. It's been getting pretty chilly here at night. We put LO in a onesie, socks, and a fleece sleep bag OR a onesie, socks, and a zip up sleep & play. I also have a handmade blanket that I have tucked in on both sides of the mattress and I put that over her legs up to her hip. She normally kicks it off right away though.

FWIW, I think we are turning the heat on soon because I worry that LO is still too cold at night. The temp in our house was 61 degrees this morning.

  • We use onesies and a sleep sack. Lisa Frank is right about their hands being cold. I feel so bad sometimes, his hands are cold in the morning.
  • imagemullenem:

we do either a long sleeve onesie or a footed sleeper depending on what the temp is supposed to be and a cotton halo sleepsack.

Thanks Lisa!  A woke up with freezing cold hands this morning and I felt so bad!  But what are you suppose to do?  She would never keep anything on her hands!  Good to know I shouldn't worry.

You don't do anything :) Even still, my DS wakes up with coldish hands.  They just don't have that ability to snuggle the covers over their bodies like we do...and they survive. I promise!

  • She had been doing a onesie and a swaddle and sometimes footie pjs if it was colder and the swaddle.  She is now in footy pjs every night and she uses a blanket and she has cold hands.

  • Cotton footie pjs. And I just starting picking up some of the heavier micro-fleece Carter footies for the winter.

  • I heard the rule of thumb is however you are dressing for bed plus one layer. I only dressed DS in a onesie and socks during the really hot months, but now that it is cooling down a night he is wearing footie pj's or pants and socks. We co sleep so sharing a bed keeps him a little warmer because of my body heat. His hands do get pretty cold, but he doesn't seem to mind.

  • It sounds like a lot, but our house is always feezing, it seems.  The Ac just blows so cold.  We do a longsleeve footed sleeper and then a cotton swaddleme with a light cotton recieving blanket to do the "escape proof swaddle".  I thought it would be too hot, but he seems fine, his neck isn't hot, and he sleeps well.

His three plus my one; we are all excited to welcome a little one!

  • Long sleeved footie pj's (sleep and plays) and cotton Swaddlemes, if it's sort of chilly I use a light cotton blanket and tuck all around.
  • geez, i would love for it to be cooler at night.  i'm in so cal and it's been super hot, even at night...like 75 degrees.  so, i've been putting DD in a long sleeve onesie with a light blanket tucked under the mattress.

  • She's wearing nothing at the moment, but I'll put a footless sleeper on her when I go to bed.  Often she is just in a short sleeve onesie because we bedshare and she gets really hot snuggling next to me.  Now that it's cooler at night I've been dressing her warmer than before.  Once the winter hits she'll be in a fleece sleeper because we have no insulation in our bedroom.

ETA: she's wearing nothing but a diaper at the moment

  • It's been extremely hot here (also Southern California), so LO's been in onesies with light pants or very thin footsie sleepers. In the winter, we'll move to long sleeved onesies, pants with socks or footsie sleepers and a blanket.

This is what we do. We also wrap a blanket around him under his arms and open at the bottom. I guess you could call this semi-swaddling. On warmer nights we'll just do a onesie, socks, and the blanket.

  • our a/c is really hard to control, so i feel like it's always freezing in here.  So i put DD to bed in a fleece sleeper, or long sleeved onesie and a fleece sleep sack.  When we were swaddling, i'd just put her in light cotton pj's and then the blanket, but since we stopped, i just feel like those light cotton ones aren't warm enough.

  • Footie pj's. That's it, no blankets. They're too busy at night for me to feel comfortable putting a blanket in there.

  • Just a diaper. We do the escape proof swaddle, so she has a flannel receiving blanket plus an A&A. I do have a blanket tucked into the mattress that only hits at her knees for when she kicks out of the bottom to keep her feet warm. She never wakes up feeling cold or too warm, so it works for us. Come winter time, we probably won't be swaddling but I think we're going to try sleepsacks with a long sleeved onsie or footie jammies, depending on the temperature.

  • Cotton footed sleeper with an A&A swaddle.

  • Short-sleeved onesie. Our AC is set for 78-80, and he's got a fan blowing towards the crib and a humidifier going. Last week I tried the cotton jammies, but when he woke up he was all sweaty on his back. Thinking I might hold off on the jammies a little bit longer. It's only getting into the 70s here at night and between 90 and 100 during the day. His hands haven't felt too terribly cold when he gets up either.
