for those of you who are already dilated/effaced at all, did you have any contractions or signs that you were, or did you not know until the dr told you? this is probably a stupid question. But just curious if there are any signs.

Re: dilation/effacement question
It's dilated, not dialated...just wanted to let you know so nobody goes all ape sh!t on you
.
Depends on how dilated you are. If you are only a 1 or 2 you probably won't be feeling anything. Some women can walk around up to a 5 or more and not feel a thing.
Checked last week and was 1 cm and 60-70% effaced. I had been completely closed the week before. The only thing I had noticed was my vagina felt super sore. Even to roll over was incredibly uncomfortable. I really haven't noticed many contractions.
But I had had the same vaginal pain starting a few days before when I heard I was totally closed. So I'm not sure if it is related and just took a little time to progress or if they have nothing to do with each other.

I kinda new I was at least 2-3cm. It was the same thing with my other pregnancies. From about 37-ish weeks on, I was walking around 3 cm dilated 'til the boys were born.
I've been having strong BH for a week before my last appt, so I figured I was. I wasn't surprised that my doctor told me I was 2cm and 50% eff., plus I'm measuring a week ahead. Whether or not that has anything to do with it.
