DG posted a new excerpt from book 8 on her website. Just thought I'd post in case some people don't have her website on their google readers :-)Here's a link:https://www.dianagabaldon.com/2011/08/bubonicon-dragoncon-and-an-excerpt/Don't click if you don't like spoilers!!! And.... I'm DYING to discuss this so if you read it please post your thoughts below. And if you don't read it - do NOT scroll down if you do not want spoilers. And it's a pretty big plot twist. One that I was not expecting.
Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Re: Outlander ladies....
I can't read the excerpt because I don't want any spoliers! I am about 3/4 of the way done Voyager so I still have a while to go. When does book 8 come out?? And I am so intrigured about the big plot twist!!!
Can I tell you how hard I was crying at the end of DragonFly in Amber and in the begining of Voyager!! I am finding the middle of Voyager to be a little slow but hopefully it will pick up.
I got the chills reading it!!! (Yeah, I couldn't wait - work got put on hold
).
So... on one hand I'm thrilled to explore this whole new story line but on the other hand I'm like.... "WHA?!?!?! Stop going down new rabbit holes until you finish the one you've got me strung out on first!!!!!"
So do you think we'll get to meet wee Jamie?
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I know - I can't keep up! And the ramifications! What if Roger somehow stops the attack? Or saves Brian's life or something??? Aiyaiyaiyai!!
I so hope we get to meet wee Jamie!
I was just poking around her site and saw she is planning on writing a prequel too. Exciting stuff!
This time travel stuff is quite complicated, no?
Yikes.....
I can't believe she did this!!!
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
And correct me if I'm wrong but Jem didn't even go back, did he? Maybe Roger went back to very shortly before Jamie meets Claire and they (Roger and Claire) will meet as well. Ooo....or maybe he'll interfere somehow with Geillis and cause himself not to exist! (DG would NEVER do this - I'm letting my imagination run away with me aren't I?) The possibilities are endless!
I hope it's not too long before she publishes this book. I just re-read the first 7 earlier this year - I don't want to have to re-read before I can start 8. That would take me ages. She needs some cliff notes.
I totally agree!! I see people posting about certain books and I always think to myself "I have no clue what happened in what book"
There is an "Outlandish Companion" book but I don't think it covers 7.
I think I'll be doing an audio book re-read before I pick up 8.

Ha! I know! I can't keep them straight. Good call on the audio books. I'll have to get them out of the library.
I have the Outlandish Companion - I think it only covers 1-4 or maybe 1-5. I've had it for nearly 10 years so it definitely doesn't cover the more recent ones.

My head just exploded.
But - it also made me MISS all of them. I just finished Book 5 of Game of Thrones (I have a love/hate relationship with that series) and I have nothing to read. And reading that excerpt reminded me of how much I love those characters - and want them to be OK!! Don't kill anybody Diana!

Have you (or any of you) read the Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey? Excellent books and sort of a little bit in the same genre as Outlander. Well, they are historical fiction/political intrigue anyway. I highly recommend them if you are looking for something to tide you over. There are 3 different series of 3 books each. I think the third series is finished but I have only read the first of those books so far.
LMAO - head exploding. I kinda felt like that too!
Too bad we have to wait, huh?
As for GOT - I've just started the audio book and I'm having a bit of trouble keeping everyone straight. Does it get easier to figure out all of the people/families as it goes along?
I'm only on disc 2....
The book club board ladies are hard core GOT fans so I had to give it a go.

I found it very difficult to keep everybody straight at first!! It does get easier BUT he also keeps introducing g-damn new characters - in each freakin' book! Like I said - I have a love/hate thing going on right now with that series. There are some things he's done (author) that have REALLY PISSSED ME OFF. But it's crazy imaginative and well done and I have some major faves among the characters too. So I'll be waiting for book 6 (and 7) to come out whenever they do!
