How long to wait after antibiotics?

I found out at the dentist today that I have to have two root canals done and one is abscessed (which surprised me because I am not having any pain). So I am on antibiotics, I have heard too many stories of birth control/antibiotic fails, so if DH doesn't want to use back up we are taking a break. But for how long? A full cycle? I will probably wait this long anyway. For peace of mind.

This is exactly what I do.

Sorry to hear about the root canals. I have one right now, too, and am also on antibiotics. The pharmacist said to use backup, but I didn't ask how long since I'm not taking the birth control yet.
