Ok, so when LO was 3 months old, he rolled a few times every day for a week. We do tummy time about twice or three times a day, for about 5-8 minutes per time.
He has rolled a few times since then, when he gets pretty mad, but then nothing. I even pull his little elbows together like the pedi showed me to encourage him to roll.
Anyone else in this boat, or have advice to get him to roll again?
Re: tummy time & rolling Q
My son rolled for the first time last night, from back to tummy. But he hasn't yet rolled from tummy to back. I didn't realize this was uncommon until another mom mentioned last week that typically they roll tummy to back first.
What did your pedi tell you to do, as far as pulling your LOs elbows together to encourage rolling? I'd like to make sure DH can roll tummy to back very soon! I'm scared he's going to roll to his tummy while sleeping and not be able to turn back over.
Thanks!
I have one that can roll from tummy to back and can ALMOST roll from back to tummy. The other can do neither. In fact, when I do tummy time with him, his gigantic cheeks seem to weigh him down.
I just keep trying. He'll get it eventually and I'm not worried!
My DD forgot how to roll tummy to back but started rolling back to tummy last week Sunday. After lots of tummy time in the last week, I found her on her back after a nap yesterday
My pedi is of the opinion, that once they have the head/neck control to roll to their tummy that you can leave them there. My DS started tummy sleeping after he rolled at 3 months, and my DD is back to STTN (on her belly!) after a week of letting her do her own thing in the crib.
I just posted in this thread. Hopefully it helps.
Thanks, LF! I'm reading the other thread now.
I just realized that I originally said I wanted DH to be able to roll tummy to back. Ha! I'm pretty sure DH has that covered. DS is the one I meant, obviously.
Our pedi recommended pulling his little elbow forward and together, almost like he could rest his chin on his hands. It helps them turn a lean into a roll, and it worked for a while, but now he can pull his arms back on his own and lift his legs like superman.... I'll try LisaFrank's suggestion, and keep at it!
