Formula and solids

This may be a dumb question, but do you still give LO's the same amount of formula for the day when they start solids??

Re: Formula and solids

  • Yes.  Formula or BM should be their main source of food until they are 1.  If your LO starts decreasing the amount they are taking I would decrease the solids, either in amount or how many times a day you are giving them.  And it's also best to offer solids after they have their formula.

  • We were told NOT to decrease formula when we started with solids.  The pedi said basically solids right now are just play/practice time, not for nutrition.

  • I offer the same amount, but sometimes she doesn't take it.  It just kinda depends on the day.
  • I give my LO his solids first and then either nurse him or DH gives him a bottle of breastmilk right after.  He always eats and drinks it all.  I'm pretty sure if I let him he would just spend all day eating.  Literally.

    Ditto this completely.
