This article infuriates me for so many different reasons.

Article on how Ochocinco and Fiance plan to do IVF so they can have their super-athlete twin boys.

Mother Effer! I have a seriously huge celebrity crush on Ochocinco. If this is really his idiotic idea I admit, I'll be a little heart-broken. Embarrassed

The fiance just sounds like a dumba$$...I want to blame it on her!

She sounds like such an idiot, doesn't she? It's "so great" that she can plan her pregnancy and was quoted in another article saying how she doesn't want to "deal with all the work" it takes to become pregnant. What work? She has know IF issues. What the hell does she know about pregnancy struggles? It's not fair that they do not NEED IVF to have a baby but can probably afford an infinate number of IVF cycles and we may never even afford one!

Exactly! And she keeps saying how it's no big deal. Ya, we'll see about that. When she gets all jacked up on hormones. The other thing could be that she really does have IF and this is her way of covering it up because she feels it's shameful or something.

That is such a disgusting article!

For anyone that doesn't want to read it, I'll paraphrase:

I'm 35, but I was checked out, so I know I don't have any fertility issues. I want a boy, maybe twin boys, so I am going to do IVF. We spoke to the doctor and he said it was simple. I just get a sample from Ochocinco and the can seperate the girls from the boys. Easy peasy.

I really think these types of articles/beliefs give IVF a bum rap.

She must not realize what IVF puts a woman's body through. It sounds like she doesn't understand how they do gender selection. They actually biopsy the embrios and do some sort of PGD or CGH. They can't tell by looking at the sperm (which is what I thought it sounded like she was saying)!

Ya, I thought they could "spin" it and sort it that way. However, most RE's would find themselves in an ethical situation if they did gender selection this way. I think they will include it in PGD if you want it but they are reluctant to do anything exclusively for gender selection. At least for us peons...maybe in Hollywood, where she's talking about, life is all rainbows and fvcking ponies.

I guess that is what I get for not looking into ways to select gender because all I want is a healthy child. But, google does come up with some companies that do that. One said it was about 80% effective at selecting boys and 72% effective at selecting girls. I guess PGD/CGH is still more effective. Anyhow, I can't imagine selecting for gender. I think people should go to IVF with PGD/CGH solely for gender selection. I think that causes negative perceptions of PGD/CGH.

Yeah totally agreed. I thought Octomom's doc was shady too if he/she really put all of those embies in her so she could have huge multiples.

This whole story was disgusting....how naive can she be and why is she on Basketball wives if Ochostinkbutt is a football player?

This article doesn't surprise me at all...she clearly views it as a cosmetic procedure and her doctor does, too. I am sure this is done in Hollywood and in other certain circles all of the time, especially when a couple's schedule might involve a lot of time apart and travel making good ole TI "impractical" based on their lifestyle.

I am pretty sure most of us view it as abuse of a medical procedure, but given unlimited funds and an astronomical enough level of self-entitlement, I am sure it is attractive to many couples like them to choose what gender their children are, how many they spawn at once, and when they are born. As for the physical discomfort and risks, I am sure they view it the same way as they view the risks and discomfort of any other of the myriad cosmetic procedures they've probably already had. Twisted and disturbing, but just the way it is, I'm afraid.

This makes me sad. I've actually met Ochocinco a few times (my family works with the big hotels he stays in) and he's actually really nice- a bit eccentric but has a good heart. I'm surprised and sad by this. Sigh.

Ummmm . . . I might be wrong, but didn't J.Lo and Mariah Carey do IVF because there were fertility problems. I don't know the details, but I vagely remember hearing reports that both couples were trying for a long time before moving to IVF.

Seriously . . . if were that easy, this is what I'd order at my IVF drive-thru window:

Hi, yes, I'll take a number 4. That's a boy with brown hair, green eyes, and his grandfathers perfet nose. When he's grown he'll be 6''6', 180 lbs.

I'll also take a number 2. That's a girl with red hair, blue eyes. When she's grown she'll be 5''6'', 120 lbs.

Seriously . . . that RE's license should be taken away, just like octo-mom's RE lost his license!
