Hi all. This is my first stop over here, because it looks like we are now trying to determine if LO has a food allergy. He has never had eczema, never had a rash at all. Wellll.. overnight he now has a huge, full blown blistered bottom. I did a bit of googling and found that it looks like what I thought was just skin chaffing is an "allergy ring"? The new foods introduced this week were wheat and corn- they were both in some of the meat combos that LO has been eating for dinner. He has been drooling more and cut a tooth this week, so the rash could be drool related. Yesterday I noticed a rash on his chin and neck that looks like eczema. This could also be drooling related.
My questions:
What are some good web-based resources for reading about food allergies and rashes? I like scientific based and peer reviewed articles, not just a mommy-site without any references. I haven't had much luck with google today.
How do I go about figuring out if this is food related? I suppose stop the wheat and corn, and see if it clears up? Any advice?
Thanks!
Re: Intro, and need food allergy info recommendations
wheat and corn are two big allergens so it may be the reason for his rash.
I know you're looking for more scientific resources, rather than mommy references, but the mommy reference is all i can offer. If i was you i would take wheat and corn out of his diet for 4 weeks and then introduce wheat for two weeks and if everything goes well, introduce corn after that (or vise versa). If the rash comes back with either of the re-introductions than make an appointment with an allergist.
