Success after IF

IVF insurance coverage in Pennsylvania?

Hello everyone!  I am just wondering if any of you out there know of any insurance companies that cover IVF in Pennsylvania?

Re: IVF insurance coverage in Pennsylvania?

  • All insurance companies have the ability to have IVF coverage in any state. It is dependent on whther the company you work for offers it. Unfortunatly PA is not under any mandates that make companies have to have IVF coverage.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • IVF coverage is not mandated in PA and I think coverage depends on where you work and if they choose to offer coverage for infertility testing/treatment  - most companies do not.  But please any other PA girls correct me if I am wrong.

      That's what I thought too.
  • Our insurance plan does not cover it, but covers IUIs unlimited which makes no sense!  We have done 7 rounds of IUI so far and no luck, IVF however is what was recommended for us from the beginning but we do not have the funds for it :(  I was thinking maybe I could pay for an individual plan if it were available through one of these insurance companies out there but really don't know where to start in my search :(

I bought an individual plan in my state because H's insurance did not cover. You can call and ask about policies that cover IVF, some insurance companies may have information on their websites. Because it is not mandated, the policies that cover it, may be costly unfortunatly.

I would be really surprised if you could find a personal (ie: not a group) plan for IF.  Insurance companies make their money from people buying inurance and not using it.  With IF treatments, there is pretty much a guarantee that the insurance company would be paying out.  They would be losing money left and right unless they charged basically what the treatments themselves would cost you.

  • Yeah so far no luck, I am sure there are none out there - we are just trying to exhaust every option before trying to scrape this money together :(
