LO (who is 5 mo this week) does not seem interested in feeding from the bottle OR breast. We've always struggled with the bottle, but now she doesn't seem interested in the breast either except for maybe 3-5 minutes total max. The only feed that goes smoothly is right before bed. She feeds 5x per day and up until a few weeks ago, she was drinking 7oz from the bottle. Now she takes the first 3-4 oz easily and then is distracted and is more interested in playing, looking around, etc. We had our 5 mo check up last week and the pedi was actually concerned about how much her weight gain had slowed and suggested starting solids now. I'm just concerned that she's not getting enough nourishment.... Not to mention that feedings have become frustrating. Anyone else going through this? Will starting solids improve her milk intake?? Any advice?
Re: Not interested in breast OR bottle
Sorry to hear... my LO has been super distracted so I've been offering the breast much more often and not rushing her feeds. I was going to say maybe your LO is getting more efficient at nursing (5 minute sessions) but if the pedi is concerned with the weight loss, that's probably not the case. Hopefully it's just a phase and she'll be nursing normally soon. Here's a couple kellymom.com links that might help. Good luck.
