Strollers

I registered for the graco flip it travel system. Would this stroller be suitable for lots of neighborhood walks? No running, just walks. Or, would you recommend an umbrella type stroller for this? I feel like the bigger one would hold up better.

Re: Strollers

  • It really depends on your area and the condition of the sidewalks. I live in Atlanta and we have warped and cracked sidewalks that makes using a jogging stroller with big wheels a necessity to go over the giant bumps/cracks/warps. If you live in an area where the sidewalks are in great shape, you should be fine with whatever you decide to use.

  • This is the system we got. I don't plan on using anything but this stroller :).

  • So basically what you really want to ask yourself is... how easy is it to lift around obstacles? The stroller is the one thing where I'm dead set on having a jogging stroller because after using the others as a baby sitter, nanny, and older sibling, I simply hate having to deal with those other kind of strollers. The wheels get turned funny all the time and if you don't have a perfectly manicured sidewalks they can be a pain when you come up to the eventual bumps and cracks. If you plan on doing a lot of walking outdoors, then I would get a jogging stroller.

The baby trend jogging traveling system has great reviews and is not really much more expensive then the stroller you are currently looking at. That's the one that I'm going with. For me it was a must because I love taking kids to the park and we are probably going to take our little one for roller-blade walks (where we roller blade instead of walk). If I'm home with the baby we will probably go on a couple walks a day and even if I'm not we will at night after dinner is cleaned up. Walk, bath, feed, read, sleep. I plan on following through with this schedule with our little one for quite a while, though the walking will probably have to wait early on until the snow goes away the first year. Best of luck!

  • Thanks all! I think I'll stick with the one I have now, our neighborhood is pretty new and we shouldn't run into any issues. If a few months go by I could think about a jogging stroller if I am going nutso with the current one.

  • We have a graco travel system stroller for ds and it's the only one I use.  Never had problems with certain kinds of sidewalks or anything.
