Hypospadias

My little boy has been diagnosed w/ level 1 hypospadias, and will be having surgery in January to correct it. I was just wondering if any other boys have this problem.

    Hi!  I haven't even mentioned it because I thought I was the only one presented with the issue.

    They thought my LO had it at birth and would not preform a circumcision. We took him to the head urologist at Johns hopkins and he said he doesn't have hypospadias, but he will now need to get his circumcision done after 9 months old! they will have to put him under and everything!

    Did they do a circumcision on your son?

    Apparently my husband had a little of it to. We had no idea, my DH was never circumcised and he didn't even know! (his mother never mentioned it--weird to me)

     sorry We can't exactly relate, but It's pretty close. My cousin had it and it worked out fine. Don't worry to much. Thank god its only level 1.

    Yes he was circumcised b/c they couldn't tell that he had it at birth, so that is going to cause some complications when he does have the surgery. Yes I'm very grateful that it is only level 1. I'm just trying to find out as much about it as I can.

    we saw Dr. John Gearhart  at Johns Hopkins and he apparently is a BFD. Im not sure where you are in PA but it might be worth the drive to baltimore. Your sons manhood (your future grandchildren) aren't anything to play with IMO.  Either way I would make sure that you go to a big hospital, with a BIG urology department.

     The hospital i delivered at wouldnt even consider a Circ. And hes fine! Im suprised and sorry that they didnt notice sooner for you.

    My cousin that had it (i dont know the level) but his "hole" was on the underside base of his penis. He saw Dr. Gerhart 21 years ago and it worked out fine for him.

    I hope it works out for you. I know we are going back next spring for his circumcision. I'm scared for him and i hate the thuoght of him being put 'under' :(

    Thanks for the advice, we are seeing Dr. Voight from University of Maryland he is supposed to be very good.  We luckily live near the Maryland line. That is pretty much were DS's "hole" is. 

    I hope it works out for your son as well, and I think that them going under is the scariest part too. If it makes you feel any better when my  yougest girkl had surgery @ John Hopkins they let me go back w/ her and stay w/ her until she was asleep. If he is getting it done @ the outpatient center they are excellent there.
