From the pictures online it looks like there is nothing to keep the kid from falling out if they are on top, am I missing something? If I bought the Kura bed tent, is it sturdy? I really like the idea of this bed b/c it is not too high but my kids fall out of toddler beds, they would kill themself in a high bed. Oh, and I have no plans having DS sleep in it high for a while but still. And is there enough room to hang out underneath and play? Thanks.

Re: Ikea Kura bed
We used this as a bunk bed - my kids shared a room for awhile. DD basically slept on a mattress on a platform on the bottom.
There isn't a bar up at top, but the mattress we bought is lower than the box it sits in, if that makes sense, so there was a bit of a barrier - and DS sleeps soundly and doesn't move a lot. I wasn't too worried (he slept in it from about 4 1/2 to 5 12).
We did get the tent - mostly for fun - I don't think it would necessarily hold a child up there. It annoyed us both and we don't use it.
DD sleeps up there now (she'll be 4 in December) and has been fine. We still have a mattress underneath. I suppose I could take it out and make more playspace under there - her room is tiny. In fact, I'm not sure why I haven't thought about that sooner - her bitty baby has too much stuff and that could be her "room"/storage space. I'm not sure she (DD, not Hannah Baby) could stand up straight though.
I don't think I'd ever take it apart and resuse it - which is why he didn't get the bed when he moved downstairs. It wasn't the easiest IKEA product to assemble, especially in a small space. I don't think I'd trust us to not break something and make it less stable.
My kids don't sleep with flat sheets either, so while making it wasn't fun, I mostly just pulled the comforter up and made it look as neat as possible.
