Getting LO out of tub

Last night, I gave LO a bath. When we were done, I struggled to get the towel around him. It just didn't go well. We can't figure out a good way to get him out and in the towel. So I thought my fellow bumpies might have some good tips. We do fine all through the bath its only the getting out part. Help! How do you get your LO out?

Re: Getting LO out of tub

  • When I was using the baby tub (placed in my big tub) I would lay a big fluffy towel down on the floor of the bathroom, with LO's hooded towel lying on top of that. I quickly grab LO from the tub and put her in her towel, wrap the hooded towel then wrap the big bath towel around everything and go.

Now that I am bathing with her (and usually DH is gone-so no one to hand her off to) I use her old mesh bath support wedge thing and put the bath towel over that, then her hooded towel. From in the tub I can reach over the edge with her and place her on her towels, again, wrap her up, then I can get myself out without her being able to roll over or get into any trouble.

Basically with us either way it's pretty much the same as swaddling her, it works for us so far!

  • I always have the Infant to Toddler Rocker set up next to the tub so I can keep him entertained (or at least contained!) during my shower.  When I bathe him, I lay his hooded towel out in the rocker, and when I pull him out of the bath, I put him right in the middle of it and wrap it around him quickly, then pick him up for a nice long cuddle.  Works great!

  • I use a totally different approach. I put his bog hooded towel across my chest with the hood tucked under my chin. I then pick him up under his armpits and turn him so his back is towards me in the towel. Then I wrap him up all cozy.

  • Same as Hallil. Towels on floor and wrap him up.

  • I put her towel on top of the bath mat on the floor, scoop her out of her baby tub, place her on her towel, wrap her up, then take her to her room to dry/diaper/dress her.

Same here!  Most of the time DH does this and  I hand off LO, but it works just as well when I do it alone.

  • I lay the towel on the rug at the foot of the tub, pick him up, and lay her down and wrap her up.

I go with this method, except he faces towards me and I just rap the towel around him.  I don't worry about the hood.

  • Emma gets her bath in the kitchen sink so we put her towel on top of a padded changing pad on the counter. We pick her up with one hand under her head/neck and one holding onto a leg and swoop her over to the towel, she thinks it's hilarious!

Oh this might work! Thanks for the ideas ladies. I just hate feeling like I'm going to drop him. It's a tight squeeze in front of the tub. Barely enough room for me.

I do this too. It's super easy and he's wrapped before he has time to complain that he is cold!

This is what I do if I'm alone but usually MH and I both give the bath so I will hold C up by her armpits and MH will put the hoodie part on her head and then we just wrap the rest of it around her.
