I have been seeing alot of posts about this subject and have a few FTM questions:
1) Is the mucous plug always bloody looking? Or can it just be tinged with blood?
2) Do you have to lose the MP before any dialation can begin?
3) Does it always look like a glob of mucous? Or does it actually look alot like a jellyfish?
I know the last question may be silly, but this is what I was always told it looked like. I have Google'd pics of mucous plugs and all the pics showed was a big glob of bloody mucous. I haven't lost mine (that I know of) but have had bouts of thick, sticky and globby mucous on my liners or when I wipe, but nothing that resembled the pics that I have seen.
Thanks in advance ladies!

Re: FTM ? about mucous plug
1) Mine was streaked with blood, but mostly the normal mucus color.
2) I was about 1 cm when I lost it with DS1. I haven't lost it this time around, and I was at 2 cm last Tuesday. I don't think you have to lose it to dilate, but I think that if you lose it, it's a sign of dilation? I don't know for sure.
3) It didn't look like a jellyfish to me.
For me.....
1. It never had any blood on it, with any of my pregnancies.
2. I had an appt. last week and found that I was 2cm dilated. Yesterday, I lost some/all of my MP. Same thing happened with my other two preg.
3. It does look like a big glob of snot, but thicker.
Thanks ladies....I have been seeing chunks of mucous after going pee, but only sometimes. DF and I haven't been real "active" (bc of his damn 2nd job!) I now know that not everyone looses it in the same way, nor does it look the same, which I kinda figuered. Not sure if I'm just seeing chunks of MP or just chunks of mucous that happened to come out. Either way, I'm not too worked up about it bc this has been happening for weeks (maybe even months) now.
