3 Fried Things

Every year I go to the fair. It is hot, crowded, over priced, terrible traffic and it smells funny... but I love it. Smile

I normally eat pretty healthy... but every year at the fair, I make it a point to eat 3 disgustingly inappropriately fried things. This year's 3 were:

1. Deep fried Snickers wrapped in bacon

2. Deep fried chicken wing dip

3. Deep fried pineapple

I also absolutely positively cannot leave without a humongonormous piece of roasted corn... dipped, of course, in real fattening greasy disgusting BUTTER. I love it.

Does anyone else have any fair traditions? Something you do every year? Something you do different every year? A certain food you just HAVE to have?

We are going today and I am so excited! It is going to be nice and cool, so good day to take the kids.

I used to always get a greek salad in the International building, but they revealed this past year that it was run by some really inappropriate labor practices, so they are gone (and hopefully in jail). I feel sick that any of my money went to that .. so now I have to develop a new tradition...but the salad was the best. I usually get a really good pastry in the Dairy building.

Chocolate milk, visit to the flurorescent chickens, 4-H building (as I used to be in 4-H), Sand sculpture, buy cheap SU shirts, watch the German juggling guy, ahhh....I am looking forward to today

We have certain places we go for things at the Erie County Fair. Like you can get Lemonade at like 17 stands throughout the place, but we only get it at the Roasted Corn stand in the main food drag. Or we only buy Tony's waffles, or certain taffy (the strips, not the little nuggets). How were the fried things? We are pretty steadfast with the traditions, so we don't usually end up getting anything too weird. Although one year we got deep fried pickles and those were pretty yummy.

I dont know when I last went to a fair...I was considering heading to the columbia county fair this week with L but when I do go- I love nutella fried dough!!

and an ear of corn sound delish right now....

Kandm: deep fried snickers? with bacon?- how was that?

Abba- it really wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I was thinking like a delish salty/sweet kind of thing... but I couldn't really taste the bacon and the Snickers didn't stand out either. Just kind of a fried chocolatey peanut buttery blob. It was just so-so. I think they made them more for the shock value, ya know?

Now the deep fried chicken wing dip... THAT was awesome!!!!

The pineapple was pretty ok. I think if they would use fresh pineapple instead of canned it would have been even better!

Deep fried nutella dough??? I will have to put that on my list for next year.
