Pitocin contractions are the devil... Horrible. But I wasn't progressing on my own and without it wouldn't have.. Necessary evil sometimes. All depend how your labor goes. My water broke to start labor.. I had an unfavorable cervix and was only a fingertip dilated.. After a few hours of walking the halls I still was barely contracting on my own. Some people progress just fine without it.

I had to have a lot of it before it started working. When it did the contractions were major and there was no break in them. I think if I had had time to build up to that intensity and/or had a minute or two between them that I would have faired a little better.
Look into evening primrose oil to maybe help get your cervix favorable.

Not sure. My water broke with DS and they gave me some pitocin three hours later to get my contractions going but I got an epidural right away so honestly never felt a thing.
Pitocin makes contractions intense and usually much closer together (no time to relax).
I was induced (very favorable -- checked in at 3-4 cm/90%), and went from zero pain to gripping the side rails of the bed within 45 minutes of the Pitocin drip starting. The pain was horrific -- but I had no chance to build up a tolerance, as I went from nothing to full blown contractions in a matter of minutes.
Then I got the epidural....and all was good in the world again.
Pitocin is evil. I was induced and my contractions started before the pitocin. They were mild, but close together. Once the pitocin was started they were coming fast and furious - only 30ish seconds between and lasting 1-3 minutes. To add to that misery, DD was "sunny side up" so I had horrible back labor, too. The epidural was the most amazing thing I've ever felt

All I can say is how my labor was...that the contractions were tripling on themselves during transition, not sure if it was from the pitocin or just how my labor goes...
