I may be crazy but we've never used a monitor and If they need me I hear them for sure!
No, you are normal.I am crazy! lol
I thought everyone used a monitor! I slept in the living room with them at the beginning and we didn't need it so I guess I just got used to not using one. I think the benefit is that I sleep through the little wake-ups where they whine and then fall right back to sleep.

After 4yrs, 5 IUI's, 2 IVF's, 2 FET's, PGD, and 5 losses our little miracle is finally here!
I am the same way, lol. But think of it this way -- if you DO lose power, all of the electronics in the house will be turned off, so no background noise -- it will be SO quiet!
hey smilee! hope you guys are all safe. we were afraid that a tree would fall on R's nursery, so we all slept in the guest room. irene by us wasn't bad at all...R however made a poop at 5am, cried hysterically, and so we were all up. figures that she is now asleep again, and i'm on the computer!
hope you guys are ok and still have power!

Smilee - I am the definition of crazy. Anna usually sleeps next to my bed. Last night I moved her, so if the window shattered, she would be out of harms way. So she was across the room.
I moved the monitor so I could still see her face.
Yep - she was 15 feet away from me. And I had the receiver in the bed with me.

Hope you were able to get some sleep! FWIW, our monitor died when they were about a year old, and we never replaced it. Our bedrooms are all upstairs, and even with all doors shut, we've been able to hear them, no problem.
After 20 months TTC with PCOS, we were blessed with twins!
They arrived at 36 weeks after PTL and bedrest for 14 weeks.
Re: Scared I will lose powers, monitor will go out, and I won't hear D.

The storm might knock out my super powers too...
