Just saw the 2.9 quake on the news compounded with the the looming hurricane! Anyone feel it? How is it out in Alabany? Any mass panic? I see lots of sarcastic comments on different area webpages about ppl going overboard with preparations. But I dunno, I have a feeling if/when Albany loses power it is going to be a while to get it back on with all the resources focusing on the bigger cities (NYC, Boston, etc). I would (and do even though I'm in Syracuse) have a full tank of gas in the cars and several days worth of groceries in the house.
Re: Albany Earthquake?
The earthquake was in Altamont, which is about 5 minutes from me, but I didn't feel anything.
Yesterday the stores were pretty busy, you can't find any batteries, flashlights, etc. and the price of pumps were jacked up (DH was going to get one just in case for the basement).
I don't know if people are going overboard, but it's basically just a ton of rain and some decent wind. We took everything out of the yard that could blow away, and our basement is actually leaking, so we'll see how the rest of the day goes.

I felt the aftershocks from the VA eartquake but not from the local one...
We were without power from Saturday late night- Sunday Late night and you couldnt find a flashlight at the store if your life depended on it...
Some areas near creeks and the rivers are flooded and had some evacs- but it was just alot of rain and wind.
My BIL is about 20 min south so we just packed up and went there for the afternoon/dinner...
