Flooding in my basement and overflowing pool that needs to be drained every few hours! Irene hasn't made her way this north part of NJ yet she is still more south in NJ! We lost power for a few minutes!
Thankfully my kids slept all night, actually one is still asleep! I however did not!

Everything's fine over here, our grill didn't even move and usually it's the first thing to get blown around. Also, our drainage ditch that floods all the time looks totally drained. Haven't fully inspected the siding/shutters yet, but I think we're OK, I don't see any outside on the ground.
We lost power around 2:30 am. Hoping it doesnt stay out too long. But other than that we are good. Sounds like it was a scary night for many in NJ though. Hope NY fares well today.

Last night sounded terrifying-I slept on our downstairs bathroom with the baby and the dog. May have been overkill, but I had never heard noises like that before. DH was able to text me from work and just got home. it was near impossible to get home- lots of major flooding, down trees and wires. A development a few minutes away had an emergency evacuation late last night. We got lucky!
We got up early and left my moms for home (we had to dog sit). It is already rainy and windy here and some people in town have lost power though I know the actually storm isn't hitting until this afternoon. A lot of schools have been cancelled for tomorrow, hoping I'm not one of them...not a way I want to start the year!

I'm at my parents house and everything is great here! No loss of power and no damage. My neighbor told me that we lost power at my house about 11 last night and we still have no power. We've been known to be out for days on end, so I'm a bit worried about how long we're going to be without power.
we were really lucky... still have power. No major damage - but from what I understand, my small town is impassable due to flooding.
We didn't get any sleep last night between the howling winds and tornado warnings. But thankfully, we got the baby down for a nap about 40 minutes ago. She was awake just about all night.

It's just raining here. We all slept until 10 this morning, baby included!
The worst is supposed to come this afternoon into the evening, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that power outages are minimal and that my basement stays somewhat dry.
We have water in our basement but did not lose power. Overall is was much better then I anticipated. The news had me so freaked out! Glad to hear everyone is safe and sound.
Around 3am I had the crap scared out of me, huge banging noise on the second floor (I was sleeping in the LR with the baby, DH was in the MBR). Ran upstairs, calling for DH and asking what happened. Checked the a/c units, windows, etc and couldn't see anything wrong. Then I saw one of our cats was soaked. Yeah, he'd jumped into the tub I'd filled with water and freaked himself out. Our little 10lb cat somehow got the entire bathroom soaked with water. Took me hours to calm back down and fall asleep.
Other than that I'm amazed we didn't lose power and luckily our basement didn't flood. My cousin lives in Lewes, DE and they had a tornado there but her house was spared. We're all so lucky.
Aly1981 - I'm so glad your husband is home now. I was thinking about you last night.

thank you! And your poor cat must have been spooked, too!!! Too funny.
We were very lucky here - never lost power. We have a tree down on the fence in our backyard, but I'm just glad it fell on the fence and not our roof. I think the noise from all the wind and branches breaking woke V up at 4:30, but he went right back down after a quick bottle and some cuddling. I hope everyone is ok and good luck to anyone that is waiting for Irene to come through their neck of the woods.
We actually made out pretty well. No power loss and no damage. A few limbs down around the road but nothing in our yard. The boys are going a little stir crazy being stuck in the house, but I'll take that over what could have happened.

We were fine. Never lost power. No flooding. There is some debris on our street, but to be honest, most of the big trees already went down during the freakish wind storm we had several months ago.

My neighbors tree is coming down on our side of the yard. Right now, it is being held up by another tree, but we are just waiting for a good gust to take both that tree and the other tree branches down.
Luckily it will only hit the fence, or maybe our deck depending on which way the wind blows if it does fall.
Still have power *knock on wood* and the rain is supposed to slow down at 2pm. So as long as our pump keeps working, all in all it is okay
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

We made out totally fine. But this morning my neighbor (from behind our house) came over to "borrow" electricity from the outlet on our deck to plug in her sump pump. It's really weird how are yards back up to each other but we are on different grids. This the 3rd time one of us had had electricity while the other hasn't. And then we went to Silver Diner and got there right before it got completely packed-- we go there pretty regularly and isn't bad at all. Lot's of people came in saying they had no power-- so I guess we got lucky.

Our part of town did not have to evacuate. Part of it did and the 3 towns around us also did. But there was no damage and our power stayed on - it winked on and off a couple of times. We seem to have fared better than many towns. My husband stayed at our house and I went to Brooklyn (NYC) to stay with my brother and we didn't lose power there either. Feeling very lucky. Our basement would have been completely flooded if the power went out.
