So I asked opinions over on the BNB, and as most of us know there seem to be very few names they like.
DH and I have a hard time choosing names, a lot of it having to do with our semi outrageous last name (Pipkorn - not a whole lot sounds good with this name...) and the other part because we don't necessarily want a super unique name, but not a super common name.
We're going to choose from our list no matter what others opinions are, but I thought I'd run our names past you ladies to see what you thought since the BNB basically HATED all of our choices.
For a boy we are definitely going to use Wynn. Just a matter of whether it's Wynn Alexander, or Wynn Bradley.
For a girl, our choices are down to... Cari, Cali, Carly, Colbie, Cael, Lane, Carys, and Keelie. -- Didn't purposely choose mainly C or K sounding names, just happened that way.
Your input wout be appreciated! ![]()
Re: Posted on Baby Names, but we all know how they are...
I've heard that from a few people, and I am not offended by it. One of both my and my husbands best friends in college was named Wynn (a male) and we both loved his name (as did he.) I love Carys, but DH not so much!
Thank you!
I think Carly is probably one of DH's favs! Lol, and I love your enthusiasm! Thanks!

I have a friend named Wynn- though I think he spells it differently. It's a nice name and I think Alexander is the best match for it.
For your girl names, several look like nicknames of proper names- have you thought of going with the proper name and then using he nickname? It will give the child more flexibility if they want something more professional sounding when they are older. For example: Carolyn (Cari), Carla (Carlie), Calista (Cali). I think Lane is just a gorgous name! That's my favorite from your list. I'm don't like Cael at all and I'm not sure I'd want to be an adult named Colbie or Keelie.
I love Lane also, DH is the one who isn't as crazy about it.
As far proper names go - we do not LOVE any of the longer options, and therefore wouldn't name our child them. I understand the flexibility, but I guess we both agree that we prefer to name our child what we'd call them, and if we would absolutely never use the name Calista for example, why even name the child that. Our family has numerous versions of "Bella" (Annabella, Isabella, etc.) and the girls are never called their real name. Why not just name them Bella then? - I know that's probably a unpopular opinion, but it's how DH and I feel either way. We know a little boy named Elijah, who we see very often, and I have never heard him be called Elijah, they simply call him Eli non stop. Why not just name him Eli then?
I'm not offended by your suggestion or trying to sound snotty, I just didn't know how else to explain our opinion of nicknames being lengthened only to be called by nicknames constantly anyways. Anyways, enough of my rant, and thank you again.
It would depend on which first name we went with I think. DH really like Emery for a MN, and I really, REALLY, do not like that. We agreed on Michaele (like Michaela without the "ah" sound on the end) but it only works with a few of the names in our opinion because of the "L" sounds in it (Cari Michaele and Carys Michaele.) Otherwise, we're open to opinions on MN, we just don't want a common one like Marie, Lynn, Anne, Grace, etc.
While I am not a huge fan of Wynn, I think Wynn Alexander sounds the best.
For your girl names I like Cari and Carly. I have a niece named, Layne, but it is spelled with a 'Y' which you probably noticed.
Good luck with the name search!!
Wynn is cute & would grow well, I like it paired with Alexander.
For your girls top 3 favs in order:
Colbie, Carys and Carly - the first 2 I like best with Avea

I do like Wynn, but I thought it was a female name as did this poster.
For girls I like Carys also!
Wynn isn't my style at all but it's not horrible. I wouldn't look at Wynn and cringe but I don't think it goes with your last name. BUT Wynn Alexander sounds nice!
I love Carys and Carly from your girls names. Cael, Colbie and Lane are all too masculine for me. Cari is fine but kinda meh. Cali and Keelie just sound very immature and I don't think they would grow with your child.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
I do like Lainey.
Wynn Alexander is super cute!
And I'm a huuuuge fan of Colbie!
I really like Wynn for a boy, though I am used to the spelling Win.
As for girls, your picks are not my style. I think probably my top choice would be Lane, though I'd probably do Laney.
