Anyone still doing Couch to 5K?

I'm on week 9! I should either go out tonight or tomorrow... LO just fell asleep at 7:30 and I'm not sure if he's out for the night, or just for a bit. I might go anyway and let DH deal with it if he wakes up before I get back. I've started the program lots of times, but this might be my very first time finishing it.

Anyone else still doing it? How's it going?

Re: Anyone still doing Couch to 5K?

  • I did it between babies, and then hadn't run much since about 20 weeks. DH and I took both kids out today and ran 2 miles. It felt really good!

I've been doing ChaLEAN Extreme for the last month and this was a nice change of pace.  :)

Good for you on week 9! Keep it up!

  • That's awesome you're going all the way.  How have you liked it?

I glanced at the website, looked at the hill outside my house, and decided maybe later.

I have really liked it. I decided to do it over the summer because DH was around and I had more flexibility of when to go out. Now I have to wait until evening or ask MIL to come babysit for an hour.

I want to get back to the gym (the city civic centres offer childcare with a family membership), but DH needs to cancel his Y membership and blah blah blah... running has been good for avoiding excuses.

  • I am doing w7 d3 tomorrow. I really like the program, and will probably get the 10k app for my iPhone when I complete C25k. I love having the program on my phone!

  • I had to stop after mid week 3 because my knees were acting up and I think I need new shoes.  So.. until I go out and buy new shoes I'm at a standstill.

  • I need to start it soon.  I'm running a half next January or April, so I'll prob need to start doing 3 miles by October.

I'm doing the MemorialMarathon here in OKC - the half, not the full. It is always in Mid-April to early May. I LOVE the half-marathon distance. It is long enough to take some real determination, but not so long that it overtakes your life and family time.

I've done 2 halfs and only really trained on weekends, and I finished them in right over 2 hours....I definitely love that distance for the reasons you said.  It doesn't take much time but feels like a really big accomplishment.  :)

I'm probably going to come to OKC to run the memorial in 2013, I'll keep you updated! I've been wanting to do it but I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to make it up there in 2012.

The 2012 Memorial will be my 3rd half. I love that race!! It is so touching, and the support is amazing! You gotta come do it!

  • Do the survivor family members still hand out the medals? I remember CRYING when I read that.
