  I did it for a year and a half. It was great for stress relief and short-term help with my cycles, but it didn't result in a successful pregnancy.

  Your acu should be able to figure out when in your cycle is best.

  I started doing it ~1.5 months before my first IVF cycle.  I basically did it 3x a week and then immediately before & after my transfer (on IVF cycles; I did 4 IVFs).  My acupuncturist specialized in infertility so he knew the best schedule for me based on my cycle, etc.  I also did acupuncture even on break cycles so I ended up doing it for ~10 months.  I don't think I got pg b/c I did acupuncture (I only had one BFP (from my 4th IVF during the 10 months so clearly it didn't do the trick alone) but I do think it helped calm me and I think it was a factor.  

   

  I continued with acupuncture after I got pregnant as well.  I really enjoyed it.

  DH and I did acu for a year prior to IVF. Our original dx was MFI. Through acu and TCM, DH's MFI improved to borderline. However then I was dx as DOR and given only 5-15% odds of success with IVF. I did acu 2x a week with electrostim for the 5 weeks leading up to ER. Then I did acu after ER, and before and after ET. I continued acu for the 12 weeks following my BFP.

  I really believe that acu with all the other healthy living- yoga, meditation, organic foods, supplements (like wheat grass) cutting out caffeine and alcohol (also DH did this for the month leading up to IVF) really improved our odds. The RE was really surprised by how well I responded to stims and how well I cycled.
