Hi ladies, I never knew this board existed but am excited to have it as another resource. H & I have been converting our lifestyle of the last year to include more organic and local foods, less processed foods, homemade cleaners, growing our own garden, getting rid of plastic in the house and reducing purchasing of it, etc.
So, now to my question. We have our first baby on the way and are trying to make the best choices in terms of what to register for/buy.
How baby friendly and environmentally friendly do you think this crib mattress is?
I want to get a foam mattress but wanted to avoid one made with petroleum. Anything that stands out in the description that might make you think twice? TIA!
Re: Intro and question about crib mattresses
We went with Naturepedic instead of foam...but I remember looking at the Colgate EcoClassica brand. It's greenguard certified to have low VOCs, etc.
With how much they sleep on their mattress as kids (and we have a convertible crib>toddler bed so hopefully that's for a while)...it's worth the money I think to make sure they aren't inhaling nasty chemicals and particles when their small bodies are most susceptible. It was definitely one of our bigger baby-splurges.
