February 2011 Moms

Any February moms in Washington state?

DH and I are planning a trip to the Port Angeles area and would love to know if there's anything we must see. I've never planned a trip before, this will be our first real vacation, and I want to enjoy it. We're going to the PA area because I have friends right across the way in BC, Canada whom I plan to get together with.

Anything we should avoid?

Times of the year that are best?

  • I dont live there, but you should visit the town of Port Townsend while you are in the area. My sister us to live there and loved it! Here is a good website https://www.portangeles.org/thingstoseeanddo.html

I hope you have fun, we are headed to WA next month!

  • If you can spend a day in Seattle I would recommend doing the ?touristy? stuff like the Space Needle, Pikes Place Market, Experience Music Project (if you like music/music history), Ride the Duck tours, Woodland park Zoo.

Whidbey Island is a beautiful place to visit, not too long of a drive from Port Angeles. You could drive from Port Angeles to Port Townsend, see Port Townsend and then take the Ferry to Whidbey Island. Once to Whidbey it really depends on what you enjoy. Deception pass is beautiful and a must see. Coupeville and Langley are nice little towns with some cute shops. Fort Casey is worth a visit; children love to see the forts.

The San Juan Islands are beautiful, but you will want to spend the night in the Islands if you decide to go, they don?t make a great day trip.

I think that the summer is the best time to visit Washington.

If you let me know what you and your family like I could try to give you more ideas.

  • Thanks! We were thinking probably next summer for the trip - we need to save a little bit, since we're working on paying off credit cards right now.

We're planning to probably spent 1-1.5 weeks out there so we could certainly see the islands and stuff. And forts? My husband would love that - we're both into stuff like that.

I don't think Seattle is big on our list - really big cities aren't our cup of tea. But we'll keep our options open!

  • My husband will just be happy to see the west coast I think - he's always wanted to live out there. Me, I really just want to relax. When we travel we're always going to chinchilla shows so we have as many as 10 chinchillas with us to take care of - this trip, it will just be us and DD. That's my biggest concern!
