Nanny cams?

Has anyone looked into or installed any "nanny cams" for the babysitters?  Any suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks!

Re: Nanny cams?

  • I haven't, and I honestly think they're creepy.  I wouldn't work as a nanny for a family that insisted on watching every move I made while they were gone.  I wouldn't work for any company that wanted to monitor my entire time at work.  If I were looking for a nanny, I'd just find one that I trusted!

The only benefit I can see to having a nanny cam is being able to see LO while at work.  I miss DD a lot when she's at church preschool two mornings a week, and I'd love to be able to peek in on her and see how she's doing.  A lot of daycares provide that.  But I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars to be able to do so if I were hiring a nanny to watch her from my home.

  • I'm interested in them too!!

As a note on the 'spying' comments - my mom had babysitters for us that she trusted, and there have been people in my life that I've trusted? people turn out to be freaks and that + my child = NOT HAPPENING Smile ? (I man this in a nice way, not being snarky/b!tchy etc.)

I second this. Just because you know someone, doesn't mean you know everything about them.

  • If you are (or know someone who is) technologically savvy, just get an IP camera.  It won't cost thousands of dollars, we got ours online for $90 or so.  It's what we use for our baby monitor.  Hooks up to our secure wireless internet and we've set it up so it's accessible externally - meaning my husband can see her when he's at work.  Pan, tilt, zoom, night vision...and we both have apps on our phones (iphone & andriod) to view the feed.
