What did you expect from pregnancy that didn't happen?
For me -
1. I'm amazed that I didn't gain a lot of weight. I've always assumed I would, because I normally gain quite easily. Also, I didn't deny myself much other than the things that are considered dangerous (alcohol, raw sushi, etc). I'm now firmly convinced that luck has a lot to do with it.
2. Back pain. I've had a lot in the past, but none this pregnancy - so far - *knocks on wood* My pelvis and hips are pretty sore right now, though.

1. Poor short term memory.......![]()
2. Nausea after the first trimester.
3. Shortness of breath for months
4. The way people are nicer once you're showing.
5. Edited: The itching!!
What about you?
Re: Fun poll on the eve of my due date
What did I expect that didn't happen: 1. Vomit. I never vomited even though I felt very nauseous. 2. Hemorroids (knock on wood they never show up).
What Did I not Expect: 1. That I would gain so much. I thought it would be easier to control bit being on limited activity has not helped. 2. The way my belly feels stretched to the limit. 3. The nesting.
I still have a long way to go, but thought I'd post anyway!
1. That I'd feel so lousy at times in terms of nausea and now these migraines. I guess I thought I'd be exempt because of going through the IF! Lol!
2. That the hormones have made me pretty mean and blunt with people at times, which I'm normally not!
3. That I'd feel short of breath early on, around 7 or 8 weeks. It's only when I'm at work and talking to patients (discharging them). It felt strange to feel so short of breath just talking and not moving around.
4. Like original poster, my horrible short-term memory. I thought that was just a myth but it's definitely not.
Can't wait to see how my answers change 4 months or so from now!
Morning sickness. I was definitely queasy for the first few weeks but it was super manageable.
Sore back. I've been really lucky so far, but also think that weekly yoga and regular massages have been helping.

I feel a little dumber. I've heard women say that before and thought they were making it up, but it's true, my recall has taken a big hit.
The insomnia, didn't really see that coming.
The all powerful, womanly feeling that I have. I have literally never felt so aware of myself as a female and I have never felt more strong and attractive.
