Hating her crib = move to big bed(update)

I posted a few days ago about how bedtime has become a battle every night and I started wondering if DD didn't want to sleep in her crib anymore.  Well, DH and I decided to try it - we figured worst case scenario, she hates it and we still have a screaming baby at night anyways.

Well, DD LOVES her big girl bed.  It's actually the futon that's already in her room.  She is super excited about climbing into it herself and she goes to bed no problem now.  We have a nanny during the day and the nanny said she's been napping there with no problem either.  We still have some early morning waking up around 5:30, but she also is teething and just caught a cold, that could be contributing to the problem.  It's better than the 10 and 2 waking up/screaming that we had previously, so I'm not complaining.

  • how old is your DD? I was thinking of putting my DD into a big girl bed straight from co sleeping.

That's great!  I'm also wondering this - how old is she?

  • She's 19 months.
  • Do you put the mattress on the floor, or does she climb in and out of the futon on the frame? We are also thinking of going straight from bed sharing to her own big girl bed.

The futon is low enough to the ground that she can get on and off.  It's actually the same height as her crib mattress at it's lowest setting.  She also is used to the futon because I used to nurse her on it and we always do bedtime story on it, so I think that helped with the transition.
