Belly question

So, my belly is growing, and those close to me know it is baby and not that I'm just gaining weight. But my belly isnt hard. Is is supposed to be  yet?? I know bigger pregnant belllies are hard and I dont have much of a belly yet, but I am wondering if my belly is supposed to start off hard or if its ok the way it is now.

Also - am I the only one who hasnt felt the baby move yet?? I'll feel so much better when I can feel LO fluttering around in me!!

Re: Belly question

  • I have a belly and it doesn't seem to be rock hard.  It's definitely not fatty.

I'm really miffed at where it came from.  I just went to my doctor last week, my belly got pretty big, and I only gained 2 pounds (I was figuring I gained about 10).  Not really sure where the belly came from then.

  • Do either of ya'll have the animation from the science museum in chicago? I think the link was requested/posted below. but right now most of the 'belly' is intestines being pushed up. The uterus is still quite low (ie below the belly button). I don't think the baby belly gets hard until it really is the uterus and the baby is taking up most of the room. Later this Tri I think.

  • Ya - my belly isn't hard, unless I push on the lower part where I know the baby is. It's my other "guts" that are pushing the belly out (plus the chocolate pudding that LO loves! lol) and don't worry about not feeling it yet. I'm still waiting to feel those flutters. Sometimes I "think" I feel things, but it doesn't feel like the flutters so I think I'm just so anxious that I am imagining it.

  • In my first pregnancy, it took me forever to get any kind of belly and it was hard. Now that this is my 2nd, I definitely have had a belly early on and it is not hard by any means.

  • I too have a belly that isn't hard except below the belly button. But I can definitely tell it's my guts squished on the top because when I eat that's where to pain and discomfort it!

I haven't felt baby yet! I also have no idea what I'm supposed to be feeling for, but I haven't felt any movement. The dr. even asked me at my last appointment and I was like, "Uh no. Should've I?" Apparently the timing is different for everyone. (:

  • My belly is hard below my belly button and seems to be harder later at night and in the morning (not sure what that means).  I definetly feel a difference, but DH thinks I'm crazy :)

    I haven't felt the baby move yet...wish I would!!

Here's the link.  I think it helps understand why it's not hard, yet.   I think it's interesting to see how much difference there is in how much women show at the same time in their pregnancies.
