And it's breaking my heart!
DD#2 is about 1-2 months behind ALL of the 'milestones'- she was late to crawl, late to sit up/ stand up- and now REALLY late to speak! She mimics dada sometimes and non- word noises (raspberry noises, ra-ra's, ya-ya's) but she doesn't have the 3 'words' they are supposed to have at 9 mos (let alone 12)- not mama, nana, papa or baba (for bottle)- the ones we work on the most... She's such a happy baby and jabbers constantly- should I get her evaluated? I don't even know if they do it this young... they probably would just think I'm being overly critical/ concerned...
I've heard that babies who have older siblings and/or working on walking (which she may be- she's really enjoying walking along furniture, walls, ppl, etc.) can be late to speak-- any truth to that one?
Re: I think DD#2 is going to turn 1 w/o saying mama...
My pedi said the same and I've read the same. I wouldn't worry. I think people that say their babies are saying mama, dada, and ball by 5 months are kidding themselves.
