Okay, okay, many of you ladies probably don't give a flip about football except that it annoys you that your DH watches it (or maybe he doesnt either!) but for me, it is life.
AND IT'S SO CLOSE! I can't contain myself, I really can't. College starts in less than a week, and I have three fantasy drafts next week as well.
Go ahead, make fun, but football season brings me so much joy, I am bursting at the seams.
Also, I figured it would lighten the mood.
End of gushing.
Re: NBR: I LOVE FOOTBALL
I have found a friend in you.
I'm kind of a dude when it comes to most sports (aka, I'm currently watching the Tigers v. Twins game). I just really like to watch it and it's something my DH and I love to do together. We have season tickets to our alma mater (of which there are a few on this board!)
So, tell me about your teamMy Blog: Naturally Mindful
Lisa - the teams I root for will make your head spin because it doesn't make sense. I truely love the sport for the sport most of the time, and like you, it is something DH and I really enjoy together and can't wait to share with DD.
NFL: I am an Eagles and Giants fan. Impossible, I know, yet true. I am from upstate NY and my parents are Giants fans, and my brother is somehow an Eagles fan, and I mostly have watched football with him. He went to Syracuse with Donovan McNabb, and I just never shook my love for the Eagles after watching so much with him. When they play each other, I root for a good game, but a Philly win.
College: Im all over, as I went to a school with no football. I have season tickets for USF and I am a big fan of theirs. I also love Syracuse, for reasons stated above, but of course they are Big East with USF. In football, I root for whichever team it means more to, in basketball, I root for Syracuse because... its fun to root for a winning time. I am also a Gator fan by marriage. Unless you are also a Gator somehow, you likely hate me for this. DH bleeds orange & blue and did both his undergrad and grad work there, and he thinks Tim Tebow is the second coming.
Anywho - yeah - there you go
What is your alma matar? I promise, we can still be friends (even if it is Ohio State)
HA! This is funny, because my alma mater is Big 10. Michigan State.
. So, we kind of have a disdain for the OSU too. lol
NFL: Lions, all the way. They seem to always suck, but I'm no fair-weathered fan. This is THEIR season (lol, that's my head telling me that it's THEIR season.) My DS is having a Lions themed 3rd bday party in October centered around the Lions v. Cowboys game.
And my BFF, who graduated from MSU lives down in Lake Worth and is a huge Gator fan by association. I'm a fan of Tebow's simply because I think he's a stand up guy. Kind of like my QB, Kirk Cousins.
Lisa - While I don't jump and down over Mich State, I absolutely hate Mich and OSU, so I am their biggest fan when they play them.
Side note on that - WTH on splitting up the Big 10 (with 12 teams) into 2 subconferences named "Leaders" & "Legends". It sounds like something a 12 year old boy came up with. Beyond lame.
Oh, and don't watch it if you don't want to, but everyone I know that's a fan of college football (no matter the conference) thinks this speech was pretty cool. Even if it's not your conference, this is how it should be always. I'm so proud to be a Spartan
Kirk Cousin's Big 10 Kickoff Luncheon
P.S. Where is Andigurl, Mullenem and whoever else I'm forgetting?
I'm totally banking on a few Lions players for my fantasy football teams. And it IS their year. Hopefully they don't find the way to ruin it. ;P And even though I'm a Sparty my dad is a Buckeye and our family has had season tickets there since my dad was a freshman in college. Which is insane to me that my dad has been to a game in the 'Shoe every year since 1969. Anywho...I like the Big Ten, 'cept Michigan. And my husband is a huge Michigan fan. Football season is the best season in our house.
I love football! I only watch NFL religiously though. I never got hooked on College games. DH likes it, he is an OSU fan. We are both Cowboys fans. DS has an oversized Cowboys recieving blanked that we will be cuddled on the couch with every Sunday this season. I am so glad to be on mat leave and not have to work any Sundays or miss any games!

HA! My brother almost got arrested in Columbus, so they stay away.
I can say this here: THEY SUCK.
GO STATE!
Mine and DH's dream for retirement is to buy a slicka$$ RV and spend time crusiting the country going to all the best stadiums/games/etc.
OSU/Mich is definately on the list now (though it probably was before). Though I will be rooting for both teams to lose (not possible right?)
Football loving gal here too!
For NFL, We are New Orleans Saints fans. I could care less about any other NFL team. lol
For College, we bleed Crimson! University of Alabama! 13 National Championships.
I like to watch other SEC games. I'll pull for Mississippi State and Ole Miss. I always pull for whoever is playing Auburn. lol
Speaking of Auburn... I was so sad when NC Panthers drafted Newton. I can't even pretend to like him...
We are huge Miami fans, regardless of the hot mess they have become. NFL is split though. DH loves his Dolphins (he's a hometown boy) and I was raised watching the Eagles.
As for the NFL we are a house divided. I'm a hardcore Bears fan and DH is a native Sconnie so he's a Packer fan. And yes, he does mention the Super Bowl every time we talk football. AND the NFC Championship. All I can say is I hope DD is a Bears fan ...
Ditto! It's THE best thing about summer coming to an end. I just moved my ESPN SportsCenter app to the first page on my phone again. I cannot wait for College Gameday and watching football all day on Saturdays.
I'm not a huge pro fan, but can watch game after game of college football. My DH says I am a bigger football lover than even he is. Yes, I am beyond ridiculously excited about it.
