is it ever too much?

Between 2am and noon DS ate 23 ozs.  It's clearly time for the 3 month growth spurt but geez...that seems like a lot.  He hasn't wanted the bewb, so I've been EP and supplementing. About 15 ozs was BM.  Also, my fffc is that I thought growth 'spurts' were a myth, lol.  My how wrong I was. :)

Re: is it ever too much?

  • From what I understand, if it is too much. You will know LO will be in pain or will spit up from lack of room in his/her stomach.

  • I thought that growth spurts might be some kind of joke that moms with older babies tell moms with younger babies to scare them.  Until yesterday.  This 3 month growth spurt is insaaane.  DD has been eating constantly too (including during the middle of the night, which she hasn't done in weeks).

  • You can overfeed, and it is easier to do by bottle than boob, but odds are your kid is just hungry.
  • The 3 month growth spurt is the first one I noticed. It lasted almost a week. DD was suddenly getting up a few times a night to eat!
  • The 3 month spurt was crazy for my kids.  Cece was up to 37 oz at one point! OMG.  She's 14 lbs. lol!!

  • I've heard it is very easy to overfeed while bottle feeding (whether it is BM or F) and not always will the baby let you know (this via my pedi). We breezed throught the 3 mo growth spurt, but the 6 week one kicked my a*s!
