I just got back from the grocery store and there was a little boy around 4 or 5 walking around with his mom. He didn't have any shoes on. His feet were black they were so dirty. I probably wouldn't have minded if I was in a home depot or other non food store but come on.
I just re-read that and it sounds super snobby. Maybe, they couldn't afford shoes, but judging from the mom and the boy and the rest of their clothes, they could.

Re: Another side eye...
Well, I am a stickler for wearing shoes period much less in public so that would gross me out and concern me too (home depot would be much more concerning to me-- so dangerous!)
And, as a person who works with the homeless, there are a million resources for children to have shoes. If mommy had shoes, baby should have shoes.

I agree that is just plain unsafe.
That said, I consider it a good day if DD ends it with black feet, because I know she played long and hard.
We are all about being barefooted at home...and in our yard.
Public places are a WHOLE different ballgame. Ick.
