DC Vent

So, I've started looking at out options for PT care for out 2 LO's come this winter. We're leaning towards a sitter (college student from the capus up the road) but looking at ALL our options.

Anywho, I emailed into a center in the area inquiring about prices/policies and such. I explained we are not 100% sure what we will need (time wise) but that it would be either 2 1/2 days (afternoons) or 2 full days, and we were flexible so if that would help them off set another PT spot, we could both benefit maybe.

She responds with a FT price, for both kids and explains they don't do PT care (ok, that I'm ok with and sort of understand) but she went on for an entire page about how they want to me to come in and look at the place, fill out all the paper work and put a deposit down.  I responded that I was very clear in that I did not need FT care, and that FT care for both kids is much more than I even make so it didn't make any sense, but thank you anyway.

I get a snotty email back about how she didn't understand why I would inquire about care if I was just going to change my mind.

Is it really sad that I get 100x better customer service from the college students applying to our ad?  Geez.

  • Well, good thing you didn't go with them. College student will be more affordable. GL.

  • Sheesh.  I supose if you are in demand you don't have to have good customer service Confused

  • That would drive me batty.  I hate when people can't listen and respond accordingly.  Or worse yet, when people try to upsell you then get mad at you when you don't want their product.  Like the pp said, at least the college student will be more affordable.
  • Ugh, I hate it when people don't bother to read or listen. Hope the college student works out, you might also want to look into in-home DCPs, sometimes they are more flexible with PT.

  • If its a professional care center you should leave a review on their google review page.  I read LOTS of reviews for daycare centers before I decided upon one, and the worse the reviews the less I wanted my child there.

  • Did you tell her upfront that you couldn't afford FT care of just that you only needed PT care?  Sounds like she was a little over the top, but at least where I am, FT only is really really common, especially for the under 2s and a ton of people still do it and just send the kids PT so it wouldn't be total out of whack to think that you'd still be interested.
