Success after IF

One MORE feeding question (sorry!)

Should we try faster flow nipples for our current bottles (much cheaper than buying a whole new suite of bottles, right? Plus she used to take these bottles fine)? DH seems to think that could help. My main concern is worrying about it causing breastfeeding issues/bottle preference, but since right now she has such a strong breast preference and I can't just feed her more from the boob, I'm wondering if it's a calculated risk that's worth it...

Seriously, I'm sorry. I know how annoying these repetitive posts can be. Love you guys for putting up with me.

  • I would try the faster flow first. Dillon (who had serious feeding issues at the begining) did much better and stayed more awake with the change to faster flow.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I don't have an answer for you, since DS STILL uses the original slow flow nipples in his remaining night time bottle..but I just wanted to give you hugs...feeding/nursing/supply issues were the most stressful thing I've dealt with in parenthood so far!  ((((HUGS))))
  • I would be scared the faster flow would impact the bfding.
  • Do your bottles have nipples with the 'y' cut? If so, I would try those. They are very easy for baby to regular fast or slow.

After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!

  • Defiantly! Also I didn't respond to your previous post but J had terrible GERD we saw a pedi GI ..it only took us like a week to get in to see him.. So hopefully it won't be To bad for you. Also we did allimentum in rtf only way he would take it. Finally the last tip that saved us was Mylanta we were on .5 and it was Truly a mircal for us. So maybe ask your pedi or GI if this is something you could Try. Your doing a great job momma!

This. The slow flow mimics the flow from the breast. Babies develop a bottle preference cause they don't have to work as hard. The formula just flows in, and the harder they have to work, the more frustrated they will get, which, at the breast, will be more than with the bottle. I would be hesitant to switch.
